This is grasping at straws but it's fun speculating http://thegame.podbean.com/2008/11/04/no-layups-11-4-08-pt-1/ *Show starts 6. Morey has a meeting 6:15. After a few questions Morey has to answer an off-air call. *Gersson Rosas told them last week he likes Kyle Lowry http://thegame.podbean.com/2008/11/04/no-layups-11-4-08-pt-2/ *Asked Morey if roster will be the same in 3 weeks or 3weeks by All Star break DM: No, there will be changes. It's the NBA. It's going to be the very rare team that doesn't have at least some minor changes. We're going to be focused on making those positive changes. http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=1660 http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trademachine Luther Head (expiring) $1,962,378 Kyle Lowry (under contract for next season) $1,163,520 Within the 125% + $100k rule, Rockets save $798,858 http://ww.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=395 Eli Witus's blog, countthebasket.com http://www.countthebasket.com/blog/2008/01/05/salary-data/
It's obvious now that if we want to win a ring, rafer cannot and the OPREATIVE word here is CANNOT be our starting PG.
The AB/BB combination makes for great offensive PG play off the bench. I'd love to get a solid starting PG on this team. Perhaps we should try starting AB/BB, at least until Rafer and T-Mac get in better shape. I think Coach A will garner more fan respect, and Ws, if he uses players based on their current performance levels.
I'm the one who brought up the whole Lowry thing because I find him to be an intriguing player for his price. I think he is the perfect compliment to the big 3...young up and coming guy that has a lot of skills and can improve in a lot of areas as the season progresses. Thanks for linking to the podcast!
AB/BB combo may run our offense better, but we'd get killed on defense by first-unit guards. Morey HAS TO be calling around the league seeking a more serviceable PG right now.
Rafer will get it together he is a good PG the only thing that's been bad is his shot one or two good games and he will be ok.

no thanks thats to much of a drastic change n id rather have shane than travis and the trailblazers waived Francis i dont think they would want him back
I don't mean to double post but I had this thought after I submitted. I remember last year that we were all hating on Mo Williams and that we wouldn't want him on our team, but I'd kill for a .45% shooter from the point, even at twice the price.
Theres a bunch of PG's I dont mind acquiring and Im sure Morey has been combing the league for low risk, high reward players. Sessions: He was mentioned in another thread but Im sure Milwaukee wont let him go due to his youth, potentials and low contract. Would be a great fit. M. Williams: Was traded before the season contract. Not sure when he would be eligible to be re-traded again. Chances seems low. Hinrich: High salary. But has size, relatively young and would be perfect for our offense and defense. The Bulls are probably waiting for Rose to take over completely before Hinrich becomes expendable. Lowry: Short but young, athletic and competitive. Not sure whether Memphis but would a good probability considering their glut at the point. Crittenton: Probably doable since he's the 3rd string. Has size, also young, good potential though but probably not a good fit since we are in a win-now mode (same goes for Lowry). Felton: Not sure what his status especially with the arrival of Augustin. Not a fan, but maybe available. Hey, if nothing works we can always re-sign DJ Strawberry and/or wait for Francis
isnt this guy small? like 6'0"? why would we want another small pg? also, hoopshype says he doesnt shoot well. so we want a smaller version of rafer? steve blake is interesting. he's 6'3" and on the last year of his contract. from hoopshype: im sure portland can consider trading him since they got bayless and sergio rodriguez. but im not sure portland would want anything we can offer. how about daequan cook or juan dixon? can they play point? i still say we trade for a 7" PF/C and just sign back dj strawberry.
Lowry sucks........have y'all talked to any Memphis fans? He's their Rafer Alston.......minus the inconsistent good play.
