We had Drexlerisms, and I figured there should be a thread for Kubiakisms since I see them all over this part of the forum. Some of my favorite from Sunday: "We turned the ball over obviously and that’s something that we’re not doing very well right now " " Offensively, we’ve got a lot of work to do with our hands" "We had a couple of PI (pass interference) calls. We set a franchise record for penalties right? When you do that and turn the ball over, you’re not going to win" "It’s obviously a very disappointing situation. Something that we addressed today and we’ve got to go get corrected this week. That just can’t happen.”
Its dumb to think coaches anywhere say anything meaningful to the press. The press is a bunch of patsies... even more so in Houston, where pancakes resides. Kubiak is far more animated, and has more substance in his comments, when he's mic'd up or they show locker-room/practice footage via NFL films. But yea, as far as his media-speak, he's as vanilla as they come (along with Belicheck).
Reminds me of South Park. "If you french fry when you should pizza you're gonna have a bad time." Is GK also moonlighting as a kiddie ski school instructor?
**** Kubiak says. Always gotta mention a John or Mark. We're just not protecting very well up front John. We can all do a better job. It's not just one guy, it's everyone Mark.
In public Kubiak is not going to show any sense of urgency or panic or anger after a loss. He's like a pilot, even if the plane is in trouble you act like nothing is wrong when speaking to the passengers. Maintain an even strain. In private we don't know what he is saying to the team.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Asked about Ryan Harris and Newton's play, Kubiak paused and said, "They battled." <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Texans&src=hash">#Texans</a></p>— James Palmer (@JPalmerCSN) <a href="https://twitter.com/JPalmerCSN/statuses/382242552478310400">September 23, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
The worst Houston coach ever (in any sport) for coachspeak was Jack Pardee. Ever since, I've rarely held cliches against coaches, including Kubiak.
I think the worst one he uses every week "we gotta find a way to get that fixed". I fugging hate when he says that crap. You find your way out of a forest because you're lost if you have to find a way through something that you've been doing all your life it means you have no fugging idea what you're doing
