Also it's self-aggrandizing stuff coming from one of the biggest egomaniacs in sports history.

He may be, but this is harmless, people brag about 1-on-1s all the time.

You're right. I'm sure he thinks McGrady (along with Gilbert) was better than LBJ.

T-mac was the Shaq of the backcourt. Too bad that he didn't take the gym seriously.

god I miss this guy. At 52 sec you guys might see a monster block from T-Mac but thats not all that was shown in that clip. Look at that court vision. Not once did he turned to look at the block shot, after the block he immediately start sprinting for the fast break because he knew his teammate was there to get the rebound.

    Congratulations Tracy fans,
This is your year, Tracy had an unbelievable playoff run that finally got him past the first round, now Kobe recognizes he exists in real life, not in cartoons

    Celebrate!

Ya as much as we hate Slackn-MAC he was THAT good, before the "new big 3's" teams want now.

Also the only time we weren't better was the Mavs year in the playoffs & Ryan Bowen was playing, playing LOTS. Unlucky fate he had even when his horrid statement about the second round with Doc Rivers him n the Magic UP 3-1 against those eventual CHAMPiON Pistons (who that year were just getting Revved up, Pistons were good).

The Jazz teams, well TSlack decided some games weren't all that important.
Yao took care of us though time, and time again the big fella got up, and got us to the 2nd Round.

To end Tracy McGrady has what Lebron was going through before winning a Chip. Nothing more nothing less. Slack did it to himself, he had the help.
Like his tweet says Re read it. (underlying meaning IS HE TOOK games off even in the playoffs...that will forever haunt HIM)

Tmac had the potential to be better than Lebron and if you look at it skill-wise, then he was better than Lebron. His offseason laziness and mentality just caught up with him.

t-mac did not "decide some games weren't all that important" against the jazz. the jazz were a matchup nightmare. carlos boozer went to TOWN on yao ming.

t-mac doesn't take games off in the playoffs. in fact, if you look at his numbers in the playoffs he turns it UP.

t-mac always played hurt in the playoffs and still put up 27/8/7. this was with a bum back and a bum knee! now that is heart. lol @ people saying t-mac was soft. sure, he was injury prone but he was such a fighter.

People pretend that as players they weren't close. Legacy, team success, individual success all goes to Kobe. Cool. Thats all that matters really. But It has to be pure hate to think talent wise Tracy and Kobe weren't damn near equal for a few years.

    This is pretty sick.

His awareness was on a LeBron level.

Too bad he couldn't capitalize on all this raw talent.

Thought this was a joke and then saw the context of the talk...and he really did mean it...he said "he has all the talent, and athleticism and he is 6'9...and that he couldnt figure him out...

Kobe being the ultimate competitor, recognized TMACs talent as superior...gosh Mcgrady...what happened...

Bottom line, as much hate he gets on this board for the way things went down with TMAC...he was a dang exciting player when he was healthy for the Rockets...

And finally the last point...you can have all the talent and natural abilities in the world, but if you dont have a drive to push you...you really have fallen short...Kobe's drive is unreal...the same as MJ's, Bird's, Magic's (Lebron is getting there too)

Before the injuries tmac was so freaking good. People forget how impossibly hard he was for teams to stop - he was a true triple threat player and him and Yao nearly single handedly led a team of scrubs. So sad that by the time they had a supporting cast they had broken down.

Yeah we saw Kobe's drive and talent without a big bailing him out when Shaq left and he quit on his team.

Get out of here with that garbage man. There is a huge myth created about Kobe and people always ignore the factors around him for his success while dismissing how he performed in the same situation as a mcgrady or an iverson who had nobody on the team.

You are 100% correct that luck is a huge part that elevated Kobe's success but you have to also factor in what he did to put himself in that position. He practiced his butt off and became a symbol for hard work. If you think of the hardest worker in the NBA history, your top 5-10 will include Kobe. Iversion, Tmac, they did not match his passion for success. Hell Tmac earned the nickname Tslack for a reason, and ofc the answer never showed up to practice. So what you're saying about Kobe being lucky is correct because luck is after all, the moment when preparation meets opportunity.

I think kobe is the only one who talks about his work. Tons of players work hard man, they just don't go advertising it...and im sorry but it was alot more than Luck that the Lakers have had some success over the years, from cheating refs to trades that you know were suspect. It was because the team was the Lakers.

Notwithstanding im not taking anything from Kobe, I just can't stand the unbalanced garbage that's spewed to put down another player or pump one up while conveniently ignoring facts that counter that argument.

Calling players names like tslack and kome, all of that is just a bunch of immaturity. In the same reign, mcgrady at the top of his game had no help at all in Orlando, and it took Houston too long to make changes to win before injuries took its toll on both he and Yao (who also took time to develop)

Now here you have the mythically acclaimed hardest worker ever who couldnt win more than 1 MVP who says McGrady gave him fits, even with a team full of nobodies and people still go out of their way to bash the dude because its the internet.

Sometimes its frustrating wanting to see some knowledgeable basketball talk and all you get is people saying a bunch of hooey and throwing out their agenda which is really irrlevant to the OP.

first sign you might be a TOF,

you blame Yao Ming for the Rockets playoff failures.

Yao Ming still played more meaningful minutes in helping the Rockets advance in the playoffs.
