Well the difference is Kobe basically is a 3 point specialist. I would far and beyond trust kobe to put up a shot with >4 seconds on the shot clock over every laker on that team. Lebron chucks up more bad than shots in one quarter than Kobe in an entire game but that's ok because Lebron can power his way to the rim. Can you imagine what will Lebron's game is going to look like in 7-8 years when he's been here as long as Kobe. Face it eventually that 270 lbs body is gonna slow down and I think it will much sooner than Kobe has, eventually we'll all see how suspect Lebron's shooting really is when he can't drive the paint and kick it out. Physically gifted...yes but his overall basketball skill is nowhere near the level of kobe's just pay attention to kobe's footwork on offense. it gorgeous and face it Kobe is always going to have the core and upper body strength to finish around the rim even if he slows down that much. I love how after Kobe shoots 40% in 1 contest against a decent defensive team in the rockets everyone jumps at the chance to take a couple shots at him. it's just rediculus, Kobe most likely hasn't fallen off from last year and if he has do you think he hasn't noticed and put in necessary measures to work around it? his averages will adjust, it's only been 1 night sheesh. His points will most likely drop and his percentages will raise...
How is Kobe a 3 point specialist while Lebron is not? Lebron shot a higher percentage on 3's last year than Kobe and the difference the year before was less than 1% in Kobe's favor. Lebron has time to work on his midrange game. If it doesn't improve, he could likely start playing power forward when he's older and he'll still have a quickness advantage against his competition. Kobe's ability to finish at the rim is actually not very impressive at all. He only shot 55% at the rim last season, much lower than a number of other players, including Lebron, Durant, Nash, Parker. I agree that it's ridiculous to say Kobe has lost it after one bad shooting game. He has had 40% or worse shooting games quite frequently throughout his career, after all.
lmfao at this thread ........ So, apologies/groveling/admissions welcome.... Kobe was faking ya'll out in the preseason. Veteran move.
Don't worry, he had a fast start last year too. He'll stub his toe or something and the media will keep bringing it up for the next two years as he puts up declining stats.
kobe won't really decline out of the top 5 player status until 2 years from now b/c his J is so good. furthermore, his teammates are playing at another level right now that kobe doesn't see a lot of double teams. there is no pressure for kobe to dominate bc of an easy schedule also. hopefully kobe can keep it up. he's an all-timer and you always want to watch greatness.
are you kidding last second shots are miracles? so Kobe just happend to make 6 last second shots to win those games. Also you can make a new thread of how good kobe looks 30points, 12 ass. 10 Reb..... 50 percent from 3's.
Probably at the same place where everyone that said the Lakers will be better if they kept Marc Gasol instead of traiding for Pau Gasol. That game the other night sure showed they are just at two different levels.
lol... I don't remember a time when the media used the broken finger as an excuse for any of his stats... in fact... his stats weren't really declined last season to begin with so I don't know how you think the media backed up him. I've grown tired of your trolling around the dish, sometimes you make insightful posts, other times it's stupid posts like these. Doesn't surprise me though, a Clippers fan with nothing else to do since his team has been worthless since existence.
I've gone back and looked through a lot of the game recaps for the Lakers last year. You're mostly right, when Kobe had a bad shooting game, the media didn't usually use his broken finger as an excuse... they generally just ignored his poor shooting altogether. However, there were still several examples of the media making excuses for his poor shooting: Against the Bucks: "Kobe Bryant struggled through his fourth consecutive sub-par shooting game because of his broken right index finger." http://espn.go.com/nba/recap?id=300110013 Against the Rockets: "Pau Gasol is out injured, Kobe Bryant's finger was killing him..." http://espn.go.com/nba/recap?id=300105013 My favorite recap though was this one: Against the Knicks: http://espn.go.com/nba/recap?id=300122018 From this description, you would think that Kobe had a quiet game, didn't take a lot of shots and looked to get his teammates involved most of the night. But if you look at the box score, you'll notice that he took more than twice as many shots as any other Laker, despite shooting just 33%. That said, I'm just going to reiterate (so the Kobe fanboys don't jump all over me) that I agree that Kobe is not as good as he was in his prime, but the stories of his demise were quite premature.
Well, if you didn't expect them to point it out at all, then that's just silly. But my post was mainly directed at him as a poster (because he has a ridiculous history of trolling), not really as much on the subject at hand.
Best player in the NBA now. And he has just had a triple double. AMAZING, especially after what we saw in the preseason.
You've got to be kidding. Every f'n game they have to bring up Kobe's little knick knacks (the same kind of injuries EVERY player in the league accumulates). How many times in the last two games have they said about "and his knee isn't even 100% yet!!"?
Instead of directing posts at me, just put me on your ignore list. I don't mind.. I have no idea who you are.
Typical hyperbole. He's not even the best player on his team right now, much less the NBA. This is what years of media brainwashing does to fans.
He might be the best player in the Pacific Division. But then again, he might not even be the best player on his own team. He's certainly not the best player in the league.
Don't pay any attention to SFR or the dude before him concerning Bryant. They have no ability to be objective on the matter. You have to just try to tune them out.
