Kobe had one thing that MJ and Lebron didn't have.

A true dominant big man , Kobe had Shaq in his prime and later in his career had Gasol and Bynum. MJ teams never really had a dominant big man . He had Wellington , Rodman , Cartwright and few others. Lebron had big Z , but on the decline.

Don't count Rodman and Bosh as big men .

    *shrugs*

Kobe's below LeBron and Jordan, everyone sensible knows that at this point. More than the big man thing is the very simple problem that at no point in his career was Kobe Bryant the best player in the league. Ever. That said, he was still a great competitor, and the league will be worse off when he's gone.

MJ had the Australian, Luc Longley. A legend in his own right... a reincarnation of Patty Mills, another Aussie great.

I really thought the answer was going to be "rape charges."

Really? I think Kobe was the best player in the league in 2008-2010. But the fact that its not only disputable, but also such a short period compared to MJ and Lebron makes the same case.

I'm not going to get into if Kobe is better than MJ or Lebron, but what I will say is that every championship team Kobe was on would destroy every championship team MJ or Lebron were on if you take Kobe, MJ and Lebron out of the equation.

Man, some of y'all need to go back and watch some of the ash!t Kobe did. Granted he had Shaquille and Bynum / Gasol but that doesn't take away from how good Kobe was.

He was unstoppable in his prime.

    Y'all forget too quickly. SMH.

I'd settle for 2007-2009. Lebron's last year with the cav's was the first year I'd say he was on a completely different level than any player in the league. I don't think I ever enjoyed watching one man play basketball as much as I did Lebron in the 09-10 season.

Sure, that's what the media narrative was, but Chris Paul was better. It was close of course, but Kobe got it due to the narrative instead.

And LeBron was easily better 2009-10.

If rodman doesn't become a bull, mj might only have 3 championships.

If you subscribe to the MJ legend, your explanation for the bulls losing to the magic was that MJ wasn't MJ, due to not having a proper regular season to adjust.

HOWEVER, if you look back at it, you will realize that Dennis Rodman was brought in to deal with shaq.

This also plays into the idea of big men in general. There is no way that MJ could have beaten a shaq-in-his-prime-lead-team WITHOUT rodman, if all other things being equal.

    Don't feed the myth.

Not having him might have made it tougher, but don't make the mistake of feeding your own myth. The Bulls completely dismantled the Magic the following season, and I think that it's hard to say that was only a product of having Rodman on board (Rodman was a great defender. No one disputes this).

If you look at MJs playoff stats in 95, they were on oar or better than his playoff stats the next year. Clearly Chicago just got flat out beat by Orlando, no excuses. MJ was MJ in the playoffs

I still cringe when I see that 17/47 Kobe shot.
