y'all need to consider NO isn't contending for anything for at least 1-2 years and CP isnt getting any younger, not to mention he had a pretty serious injury this year. He's only 24, but he's going to hit his prime as a FA and he's going to look to go elsewhere. Collison is more than ready to start now. As good as Paul is, it may benefit NO to get a young prospect for him now and develop that prospect with collison and thornton. Perhaps they can get gallinari or chandler in a knick trade for CP and include a third team to take Lee, send West to NY too and a young big man to NO. That's a good core for them to rebuild around.
that is the dumbest thing i've ever heard. if morey is ever offered anything like chris paul for aaron brooks, if he doesn't jump on that deal, he is the dumbest gm ever. i would trade aaron brooks, scola, and baby jesus for chris paul.
And I want to S&T kyle Lowry for Chris Paul. But that is also not happening. The Knicks really are a funny team. Not fun to watch, just funny.
Looks like Walsh is trying to pull a Morey kind of deal, but he isnt Morey. The Hornets dont need Lee, and I'm sure more teams would be able to offer a better package, say AB and NY's draft picks.
david lee for cp3 that is lol, what would be the point of having david west and david lee on the same team? chris paul is the hornets, if they trade him they might as well get out of new orleans
You have to remember that big boy Curry is expiring in 2010. So, if NY takes back a salary in a trade, say, a re-signed Lee along with Curry going out for CP3 and Okafor, then NY is essentially replacing with Okafor, getting CP3 as one of their free agents, with still the opportunity to add another max free agent. This would be a possibility for New Orleans if they are continuing to have financial trouble and want off Okafor's long term deal. NY could throw another asset at them to make it go down. Or what if the Hornets want Lee at Center and they are willing to part with Okafor and Collison to do it? That still leaves NY with the opportunity to sign a max free agent this season and add a very substantial near max free agent in 2011 when Curry expires, if they can't find another trade for another superstar they like using Curry's expiring deal before 2011. Morey hit a double with the McGrady trade, getting Martin and Hill. If he doesn't get anything else out of it, it was a winner for the Rockets. He got his assets and a gambler's chance that NY fails in 2010 and/or 2011. If NY fails in 2010, then Morey got a triple. If NY fails in both 2010 and 2011 then Morey hit a home run. Or if Morey is able to move NY's picks in a trade getting us a Bosh type superstar, then he hit a home run. Chris Paul and Okafor for Lee and Curry makes some sense to me.
And why would the Hornets needs an offensive PG? Collison is good enough to be a starter on that team. They need a wing player, to complement Collison and West/Okafor. Hornets would probably ask for Budinger + NY's picks, or Martin + our second round pick.
How about a 3-way deal? Brooks and Jeffries to NY, Lee to NO, CP3 to Houston. We could send Andersen, etc. to N.O. along with a pick or whatever to make it work.
Well, aside from the obvious reasons this wouldn't work, it won't happen because we're not going to do anything that could help NY out in any way, either basketball or cap wise. We would get involved just to queer the deal. This is going to be fun over the next two years... watching Morey cockblock the Knicks at every opportunity.
Ummmm, NY is in the East. Morey will gladly help them out if he can make the Rockets better in the West.
You might be forgetting about the Knicks draft picks considerations. It's definitely in our interests to get two lottery picks out of the Knicks.
This. Even though PG isn't our biggest need this offseason, you don't pass up a chance to get a great PG. The NBA is a point guards league these days and CP3 along with any other players the Rockets may acquire would be extremly big for the franchise.
Yeah, um, you know I'm a huge AB fan, but you can build a franchise around CP3. He's one of only maybe three or four players in the league you can do that with right now. I'd give up any three players for him, not including Yao, since he's pretty much off the table as far as Les is concerned. "Sure, guys, pick three!"
And why would they need lee if they have West? I was pointing out the irony in that we have NY's bargaining chips and throwing out an unlikeley trade of our own. It also made sense to Memphis to trade Gasol for Kwame. it doesnt make sense for you trade away your best player for peanuts and cap space when other teams could offer more.
On top of that, I believe if we bring in a CP3 type PG in exchange for Brooks, Lowry walks. Better sign Lowry before we move Brooks.
