He will stay. Lakers will be left out in the cold. I'm loving this.

Well, might be a better plan than letting Jim Dolan do it. Maybe Melo should hire his own analytics staff right now in preparation for 2015.

My big question, however, is this: Will any top free agents sign up to playing with Melo?

Of course Melo is an elite player. But is he the kind of guys other stars like to play with or is he a "hard to play with" guy like Kobe or Allen Iverson? Also, Melo will be 31 years old by summer 2015 and will have re-signed in 2014 for 5 more years if he stays in NY. His contract in 2015 will pay 31-35 year old Melo between $24.5M and $32.3M durng each of these 4 seasons. So, will a top free agent sign up to play with 31-35-year-old Melo while he makes the kind of money that gives the team little flexibility?

I love that last sentence. Bosh, Gay, and Jennings? That's who Melo gets to pick from? Gay is basically Melo lite, they could not co-exist. Jennings is a playground player, who also wouldn't fit well with Melo (and with Felton and Smith still there, he wouldn't make any sense).

I guess Bosh would be the best fit, but Melo is clearly better playing the four next to a legit center.

Sources say NY is eying Kobe in next year's free agency.

He meant for the Lakers in 2014. 2015 FA headliners would be Love, Aldridge, Rondo, and Marc Gasol. And it's very likely NY gets at least one of them. And if Morey plays his card right, the Rockets also get one of them.

Would be even better if he used the Lakers as leverage to demand a SnT to Houston.

Forget the Knicks and Lakers: Don't rule out Melo joining LeBron and the Heat in 2014, especially if Riles figures out a way to give Bosh to a team with cap space (like the Knicks and Lakers).

if the knicks are smart (i know, i know) they would find a way to dump smith and felton next summer, then make a play for 2 of those guys in 2015 to form a trio with melo. their best options to pair with him would be guys that don't need the ball to produce (gasol/rondo) however, i bet they just go after the biggest names (either love or aldridge) and decide to keep felton, smith, and shumpert when they realize there will be no better guards available after the celtics trade rondo this year and he agrees to an extension with whatever other team acquires him.

if the rockets play their cards right they can end up with either love or adlridge.

The Knicks FO is a joke. They need to re-haul the entire staff, but that will never happen under Dolan.

Melo, Cp3, and Dwill will never win a ring in their primes. This is the Lebron Era.

    So neither will Dwight?

The Heat's window is closing and closing fast.
