I think seeing how the team and media both react to melos 1st day of training camp will go a long way in determining how motivated the knicks front office is to get melo out of town.

In each of those scenarios, they actually did what the STARS demanded.

The STARS demanded to be traded, so they went ahead and traded them.

They didn't want a disgruntled STAR holding a huge chunk of their cap space causing on or off court issues.

They didn't want to lose a STAR asset for nothing.

They didn't want to have a disgruntled STAR prove, show, and tell others that they are a bad destination who keep STAR players hostage.

PG demanded a trade knowing he can be traded anywhere. And the Pacers obliged knowing that now they're forced to rebuild.

CP3 demanded a trade to rival western conf contender. And the Clips still obliged knowing that they won't be contenders anymore.

KI demanded a trade to rival eastern conf contender. And the Cavs still obliged sending their young championship calibre PG who is still 3 years from his prime for a PG 5 years older and has hit his prime, a role player who plays the same position as their star player, and a pick from a clearly improved team.

Maybe Ainge included the BKN 18 pick with the Irving trade because Morey told him it's value with be plummeting soon with the addition of Ryno to the Nets? Lin and Ryno pick and pops would make the 8th seed.

What if lin goes linsanity next to ryno and the dude with ice in his veins.

Then melo really wont want to be in new york at the time

Yeah I think if they do decide to bring him back in this year you'll see a big PR push to script out what they'll say to the media in training camp one way or another. Probably agree to have canned lines like "we think we have a shot at the playoffs, and we are just focusing on getting off to a good start to evaluate the team longterm". I think that's a good PR play to take, and sort of puts it out there to the media that they should not bother to ask about trades until the deadline comes because that's the target based on whether they are or aren't a playoff team.

But yeah, the PR spin will be telling during training camp, and if there is no spin and they come into camp with conflicting messages, or no message at all, that would show there is tension and bad blood.... which would totally be a Knicks Drama type of thing that is very typical for that disgraced franchise.

It was included IMO to ensure IT got his physical passed by Cavs; the ultimate reason for the deal, along with salary cap issues after IT's new C's deal.

How could we fashion a trade for Melo after the season starts, if we have already cut loose our non-guaranteed contracts?

Stars align; AAU relationships often stronger than NBA ones.

Every day paints Knixies in corner of having to sell the deal to their fans as worth the delay. IMO, of course.

CP3 could opted out. He Opted in (consulting with the Rox and Clippers) to let the trade happen. Not sure demanded a trade. He was leaving either way though

Ryno plus some of our lower salary guys still allow it to be possible right? How dependent were we on the ryan kelly type contracts?

CP3 wanted to play with Harden in houston THIS year and wanted Melo to follow. The clips obliged and CP3 got what he wanted.

We might need melo to burn some bridges and be a prick to force his way here.

He seems like a non confrontational dude who wants to keep a good image in the city of new york though

New York is his home. No one wants their home to hate them.

Yep. He just wants to play bball in houston for 2-3 years and compete for championships with his buddies but new york is his home.

He will probably be based in new york the rest of his life.

If I'm 'membering correctly, I don't think PG ever demanded a trade. He just made it clear he wasn't returning, so Pacers made the decision to try to get something in return. Lakers decided to wait instead of giving up assets and Pacers didn't want to deal with Cavs or Boston for whatever reason.

Washington? Toronto? Rockets are being greedy and glutinous not including Eric Gordon? Marc Spears is an idiot. He did say he doesn't think melo starts the season a knick.

    Gluttonous.

The Rockets will have to give up something. I don't know if "Ryan Anderson and a bag of Frito Lays to a third team" is going to cut it, especially if Trevor Ariza is off the table.

Oh, Morey is certainly prepared to see who blinks first:
