We traded our 18 pick to the clippers, correct? That means we can only give the knicks our 2020 pick?

Again from what rumor has it, the Knicks are very willing to trade Melo away. They want this fiasco to end. We have just not given them anything close to what other teams are offering. In other words Knicks want at least Kyrie for Melo unless Kyrie gets traded first. It's one big staredown.

Well they aren't gonna get anything close to the equivalent of kyrie from us or other teams. Lol.

So answering questions about why the would trade Carmelo Anthony for Ryan bleeping Anderson will be a much better question to answer is it? Knicks fans and media know what the deal is already with the Rockets. They don't want this trade anymore than the Knicks FO does. They want a solid return, or keep Melo.

CF has created these narratives thinking we have leverage. Does NYK care about media critics? No. They get criticized no matter what. Would they trade Melo for scraps? No, Scott Perry deaded this trade for that reason. If Melo really wants to leave he can waive his NTC to Milwaukee or whomever. If he doesn't, guess he doesn't want to leave as bad as reports say. That's the Knicks reasoning and perfectly understandable. Absolutely no reason for them to add $60 million guaranteed in their books (which is more than Melo's contract) for a position they're already full at. That's not even showing Melo goodwill, that's straight up being a terrible FO. Perry has a reputation to build here.

CF needs to calm down with this Melo ****, it's only going to lead to disappointment. There's so much to be excited for going in to this season anyway.

it's not about the Knicks taking Ryno, it has never been about that...nobody views that as an actual option, that is why there's been so much talk about 3rd and 4th teams

True but teams care more about now. Its why the knicks are the knicks and the nets.

NYK will go into the trade deadline with Melo at this point. They're going to wait until the season starts for him to see other teams doing well and hopefully open up his trade options.

If you're the Knicks, why not keep him into the season.

A lot of things can happen once the season starts:

Davis + Cousins could go on a 30 game win streak, be on top of the division.

Derrick Rose could have a Steph Curry like rebirth from injuries.

Lillard+McCollum+Nurkic could be a legit trio.

The point is, once the season unfolds, more teams could start looking more attractive to Melo, and he could expand his list. Maybe this is the Knicks thinking right now.

Maybe the Rockets and Ryan Anderson get off to a great start and Anderson becomes a little easier to trade. Melo may even demand to go to Houston even more.

I'm willing to bet that Melo and his camp will start applying some real pressure on Dolan as we get closer to training camp.

Seems like you prefer delusional homer speak over realistic basketball talk. CF in a nutshell.
