Why shouldn't the rockets do this? The lock down defender this team desperately needs.

Yeah if we weren't going after a a max player...

Whats the difference between the Cap Hold for the rookie, and his contract?

rockets will probably draft an international player or try to move down to have little to no cap hold for the rookie

The difference between Shumpert's cap hit ($2.62M) and the #25 pick ($991k) is over $1.6 million. That, combined with the fact that Shump will be looking for a big contract in 2015, and I'm inclined to say no.

The first is a bargaining chip for a superstar signing. This would be a very un-Morey like move on so many levels.

It's always good to stay away from players named after a supermodel.

Would teams rather have the #25 pick or Imam Shumpert?

No, we need more cap room. Pass (at least until the big names are off the market).

Shumpert has an advanced form knee degeneration. He's like Wade but not remotely as good at any point in time.

Yeah, this would obviously be a terrible move if we think we have any shot at a top FA.

Terrible fit based on need. No ancillary players will be signed until 3rd star is filled.

He was not a good defender this year, kinda like how CP took a step back defensively his 2nd year... I like Shumpert but I would stay away from him.

Yeah I think we should draft Cleanthony Early or Mitch McGary with the 25th pick and then in the second round take Patric Young or an international player we can stash.

Dwight deserves only seasoned veterans. He wants to win now. No rookies and no drafting please....
