Age has a way of catching up to us all . . . . Starting to get a little apprehensive, but I thought the perfect antidote would be a thread in the hangout. Just pretend I'm selling used hair gel, or hiring a nanny, or having sex with an escort in an hour. Well, maybe not that last one. C'mon fellas, let's see what you can dish out. The snarkier the better.
I had shoulder surgery a while back and while I was in rehab (seemingly forever) I saw a lot of knee surgery (a couple were replacements) patients. They definitely made a lot of progress while they were there. It's gonna be a lot of hard work, but stick with that therapy like your life depends on it. If you want normal function, it's completely dependent on therapy.
I hope it is the last resort, because it should be. You need to put it off for as long as possible. That being said, my dad had his replaced after years of putting it off and relying on injections. He's very happy and walks 3-5 miles a day. Be sure to move and walk around immediately. The more movement the better.
Hope it went well today. Hopefully a pro like you will start using knee pads in your...umm...line of work. Gotta protect that investment. This random lurker post has been brought to you by: Rocket Raider
thanks guys. things went really well as far as I can tell. Surgeon came in and said he really liked the post-op x-rays. I'm on an epidural overnight so I can't feel a thing, that comes out tomorrow and I start PT. Go home Thursday if all goes well. Appreciate the kind thoughts from everyone. @Mathrocker I'm pretty sure I get pushed to the main entrance by an escort once I'm discharged.
My friend's mom decided to get both knees done at the same time -- she was 70 at the time and is still doing great at 75. Modern technology is amazing.
