[rquoter]AFC SOUTH Houston Texans Top needs: WR, LB, G/T, CB, NT Rd 1 (26) OT Bobby Massie Rd 2 (58) WR Alshon Jeffery Rd 3 (76) LB Bobby Wagner Analysis: One of the quiet stories of the offseason is the work Houston will have to do on the offensive line to keep its very efficient run game rolling. Massie is a guy moving up my board, and if I'm Houston I know where my bread is buttered and make sure things up front are in good shape. As a caveat, I'll say I'm really tempted here by Coby Fleener, the tight end out of Stanford. Houston lost a good one this offseason in Joel Dreessen. In Round 2, Jeffery is there as a nice piece to put across the formation from Andre Johnson. Jeffery won't stretch the field by blowing by people, but watch the tape and you'll see a guy who often just physically overwhelms smaller corners and safeties. Houston's play-action attack will be able to create favorable matchups for him. The Texans moved DeMeco Ryans, knowing they could fill his role in the draft, and Wagner is a guy I think can do the job.[/rquoter] http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draf...iper-best-possible-picks-afc-teams-rounds-1-3
as much as i hate the texans going with ol with the first rd pick im beginning to think that this is def the direction they will go in
I'm sure they'll go BPA but it may very well be an offensive lineman. We're not used to being this far down in draft range (by record not trade) for once, but if you look at the end of the 1st round throughout the past few years typically the O-line, D-line is addressed.
JJ Watt wasn't a sexy pick last year. I will admit I was like, "what the hell" but we all saw how that turned out. I am goign to let them make the right decision for the team. If we go OL then so be it...
If we end up going OL first I really think that we are trading back. I mean if there is not a solid player who falls to us I don't see Rick reaching on a player instead of moving back towards their value.
yeah I don't think Alshon will be there at Houston 2nd pick, but if it were to play out this way, I wouldn't be mad
drafting a RIGHT tackle is a reach in the first round. Kubiak can find a right tackle that was drafted in the 6th round in 2009 and turn him into the prom king. I think it will be a pass rusher or the receiver and if there is no one they like...they will trade the 26th for an extra mid rounder.
What is kiper's record when it comes to predicting texans drafts anyway? I generally fel like he sucks at guessing our draft methods
He or McShay had the Texans taking JJ Watt in several of their mock drafts before last year's draft, can't remember which one though.

Personally want. Fleener, Wright, Jeffrey. In that order.
I would be upset if they picked an olineman. I feel pretty good with Butler at RT as long as he has recovered from his injury. I'm also not as down on Caldwell as some others, I think he is serviceable. I only did not like the Watt pick originally last year because I did not think they were picking a starter since all indications at the time were that mario would be playing DE, not OLB. Once they decided differently I did not mind it. I think both Jones and Walter are awful and should be replaced, I want a WR with the first and wouldnt even mind it in the 2nd as well. Fleener would be fine by me too
I can't believe I'm going to type this, but....I kind of want Fleener. He looks like he could be an absolute beast in our offense. Also, every time I watch a Kendall Wright highlight video, I come away more and more impressed with RGIII. The guy is like butter, lol. Not so much with Luck watching Fleener's highlight videos (Not that this means anything). In this order: Fleener, Wright, Randle, Hill, Jeffrey. I personally don't think there's that much of a dropoff between Wright and Randle, and I think Randle could end up having a much better career than Wright.
My football expertise is rather limited, but I'd like to believe that I know talent when I see it and I totally agree. Fleener looks like tailor maid for this offense. Not sure if it makes sense from a need standpoint though. Also what's the downside of having multiple TE's out there? Why do the Texans need a WR? Like I said I don't know a whole lot about football, so take it easy on me.
