Nuggets' team looks great on paper but in real life they suck as hell. Their problem is defense, they don't play any defense at all.
IMO, their lack of effort on defense the last month or so can be attributed to the respect the players have of coach Karl. They just won't do it for him. On offense, they still play inspired (if not smart) on a regular basis. If a guy with Karl's history can't motivate players to "D up", you may as well not have a coach. I can look at him during games and see the old fire and nastiness that made me dislike him in the past is gone. Maybe it's because he's older. Maybe it's seeing his son overcome cancer (a major perspective check) and make the Lakers roster. Whatever it is, the fire and bite that made George Karl a good NBA coach is gone.
I just like what he did last year at New Mexico State and previously with the Deering Tornadoes (Google it). And he dresses like a razor. He is a rookie coach though, and it does show. But its obvious to me that he will become great.
I don't care why. But with their roster they could be one of the best team in the West. They are just now working defensivly, you can score on them every time you want. Unless they fix it they won't win anything even with AI
As always, you're dead on. Amen. Theus has done a wonderful job in Sacramento. I wish the Nugs had him.
