80's was by far the most entertaining. The Bird/Magic rivalry. The young guns of Jordan and Dream.

Yep, 80's through mid 90's was most entertaining. I'd love to see Bill Laimbeer go against Chris Bosh or Dwight Howard. They'd both be crying like little girls by the end of the first quarter.

I'm 35 and can remember NBA players from '88 and on quite well and I still don't get the AI hype.

I was born in 89'. I'm more sad that I never got to see pistol pete play. I think he's a guy that doesn't get mentioned enough when we talk about basketball players.

One of the things that I'm most thankful for is my mother flying me to Chicago so that I could see Jordan play. I was in the third grade. I'll never forget Jordan getting a breakaway and doing one of his signature slams. They were playing Mitch Richmond and the Kings.

Kobe played when that mcgrady guy played.

I guarantee you they never saw mcgrady in the second round, conference finals or nba finals.

    He was awesome......on nba2k

this is why jordan would of dominated in any era. I personally feel the mid 80s thru the90s stars were the best. Jordan,Hakeem,Malone,Stockton,Ewing,Barkley,Pippen,Drexler,GP, D.Robinson,Magic,Bird,Shaq,etc. All of them in their prime were a treat to watch and for Jordan to win 6 titles in the 90s was historic.

The way Laimbeer played was just terrible for basketball. Even though the league's gone too far in getting rid of the physical side of the game, I'm glad we don't have a scumbag like him in the league anymore.

The early to mid 90s was the low point in NBA history. The Pistons had introduced an extremely boring brand of physical basketball that the Bulls copied en route to some underwhelming titles. Expansion had watered down the league with four unnecessary new crappy teams upsetting the balance of a once competitive landscape. And MJ was being marketed like no other before which led to the explosion of the now prevelant "hero" mentality over what basketball was intended to be.

I've been watching NBA basketball since the early 1970's as a kid. I specifically remember the 1972 finals between the Lakers and Knicks as my first NBA memories.

IMHO, the best period of basketball was the 1987-1997 decade. There has been some great basketball before and since but that period was truly the Golden Age of the NBA. It seemed like so many teams had at least 1 if not 2 Hall of Fame players and there were some great rivalries.

It doesn't hurt that the Rockets came to power in that time period as well. :)

I may be discrediting Iverson here but Westbrook reminds me of him. A chucking PG who never knows when to stop shooting with an ego sky high but will explode like crazy on some nights and drop 40.
