Just got introduced to this site recently. I think there are some cool products here. Curious to see if you guys have seen anything that have caught your attention. Here are a couple that have interested me: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bladepad/bladepadthe-detachable-iphone-gamepad?ref=live http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ouya/ouya-a-new-kind-of-video-game-console (seen this mentioned somewhere else here I believe) What are yours? (doesn't have to be techy either).
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/scorgie/the-culture-high The previous was one of the best documentaries I have seen, so good it was even shown at parliament hill, hell its even used by major universities across America for teaching! Plus Adam Scorgie is a Houstonian at heart, lived in Woodlands and Sugarland well it already past it's goal
I remember watching a YouTube video of a wristwatch that syncs with your iPhone for calls/iPod, is that a kick starter project? Whatever happened to it?
Then you're out some money. Can try to sue them I guess but it's not risk free. Others have been scammed. And not out yet. Next month or so.
I put in for one of those Ouya open source gaming consoles. Sounds intriguing and I think it is the sort of thing that, done right, could make some changes in how the gaming world operates. Or at the very least could just be an easy way for me to play Final Fantasy III on my TV.
I had one which was an animation about a girl bring home a monster as a pet who was then ostracized a la Frankensteins monster.. But it finished and I forgot the name looked good though
Anyone have any idea how much money the Kickstarter website makes off each of these projects? Their idea for a website that makes it easy for people with ideas to fish for funding seems like the best idea of all. I love it.
I've seen various figures, although from Double Fine's posts, sounds like they take 5% (after Amazon takes their 5%). They went from ~$3.4M to ~$3.0M after taking those out (plus failed transactions). Most of my favorites I listed here: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=217165 Ouya and a few more are recent ones I like, although I've scaled back a bit on the projects I back. So awesome seeing some of the projects make progress (e.g., seeing Wasteland guys announce what engine they're using, first early screenshot, etc.).
Oh! and star command for mobile platforms As it says in its description, like Game Dev Story (by Kairosoft, excellent game) but with a sci fi twist a la Star Trek www.starcommandgame.com http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/starcommand/star-command-sci-fi-meets-gamedev-story-for-ios-an
Now coming out with a PC/Mac version too, this one is still active if anyone is keen http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...ckstart-part-2-the-pc-mac-space-adv?ref=users
