Kevin McHale: I'd like to get a rotation of 9, maybe 10 guys

This is a good problem to have good peeps. Our team is so deep, some good players wont get any minutes unless its mop up minutes. McHale n staff have their hands full on this one.

Whoever starts in PF will be candidate #1 to be traded and them playing starting PF role will be just boosting their trade value, just like the last year.
P.S. Does Jones know how to play other than face to face? Can someone post a video or something of his back to the basket/post plays in the NBA? (no college)

This is what I'd like to see, though it's pretty unlikely that both Bev and Asik end up as starters or that Howard's and Harden's minutes would be so limited.

    Rotation (9):
    PG: Beverley 17 / Lin 31
    SG: Harden 34 / Garcia 7 / Beverley 7
    SF: Parsons 30 / Casspi 8 / Garcia 10
    PF: Howard 12 / Motiejunas or Jones 26 / Casspi 10
    C: Asik 28 / Howard 20

    Rotation by Player (9):

    Beverley: 24
    Harden: 34
    Parsons: 30
    Howard: 32
    Asik: 28

    Lin: 31
    Garcia: 17
    Casspi: 18
    Motiejunas or Jones: 26

    Bench, assuming health (3):
    Brooks
    Smith
    Camby

    Vipers (3):
    Canaan
    Covington
    Motiejunas or Jones

    Cut:
    Henriquez
    Williams
    Brewer

Considering the guy has a grand total of 276 nba minutes, you're not really going to see videos of much of anything

Jones not having a jumper is going to cost him and he will be the odd man out.

They are not sending Jones and DMo back to the d-league.

Agree to disagree. I think lib plays really hard as well btw.

But I don't agree with anything else you are writing. That's all.

Dmo and Jones will probably split minutes whilst being on a "who is playing better today" leash

~30-32 for Lin sounds about right. McHale will probably overplay his stars like most coaches so I doubt Harden will get just 35.

Don't have a problem with it for the regular season. The way our offense goes, stamina is gonna be an issue sooner or later if hes only got 7 or 8 guys in the rotation.

    come playoff time though...

He could be running out of time to earn a roster spot before the cuts have to be made ...

The only difference I would say is that whoever doesn't get to play out of DMo or Jones will not be traded. Because we still need an traditional PF insurance for injury. You don't want to be playing Greg Smith, Howard or a Cassipi/Parsons there for extended periods.

My take is eg if DMo starts, Jones will get very little time off the bench. But if DMo is injured, Jones will go directly to starting PF as opposed to having Asik start and Dwight moving to PF or Cassipi starting at the 4.

So unless we get back a good PF, DMo and Jones are here to stay. But only one will get serious minutes

I'm curious: If you had Morey's ear, and could give him your opinion on who to cut, what would you say?

Totally doable in some permutation of this.

Smith only got under 3 minutes this past game. . . .

I think this is closest to what I'd do if I were McHale. My roster...

Actually DMo has been boxing out well from day one, even when he was not rebounding consistently. So that is not an accurate statement.

During the pre-season DMo has played very well on defense and rebounded well. Neither of us know if it will cary over to the regular season put at least for the pre-season he has been a very pleasant surprise.

I think the opening day starters will be:

    Beverly
    Harden
    CP25
    D12
    Asik

    Other players in the rotation:

Lin - super sub with a ton of minutes (the Manu Ginobli role)
    Garcia
    Casppi
    DMo
    TJones

IMO, both Garcia and Casppi will get a ton of minutes on a nightly basis. DMo and Jones will fight it out for the 1st big off of the bench and the other will play spot minutes as needed.

Who closes the game between Lin and Beverly will be determined by need and who is playing well. If the Rockets need more defense then I suspect Beverly is your PG, if you need offfense then it's Lin and if the situation calls for it may both are on the floor to close out the game.

JLin will be starting at the point. And I think Dmo will be starting at the 4.

I was expecting Greg Smith to get traded until the Camby injury happened. It depends on if the want to move Asik at the trade deadline I guess
