Its mostly giving Dirk credit based on CAREER achievement that he didnt get before. Dirk '05-'08 was a BOSS way better than last 4 years Nowitzki. But he didnt all the acclaim then, so have to give it to him now post-championship.

Shake your head all you want, son. It seems you don't have a solid understanding of what it takes to win a championship in the NBA.

Maybe you should think for yourself instead of taking "82games" as gospel.

Let's wait till he wins a playoffs series before we claim him the best PF in the game.

Love not being a max level player is just a ridiculous thought in my opinion.

I can do that too. Love is an 81% ft shooter that gets to the line 2nd most in the league: 8.6 attempts a game, he's 4 in scoring at 26.2 a game, 3rd in 3 point percentage among pf.

By any standard, you can't guard this guy: and that's why he goes for 50 against okc, 30 against denver.

Literally, the only offensive stat that dirk beats love in is ft%, and that's because dirk is insane at the line, not because love isn't good.

Claiming that dirk is better offensive player is hogwash. It doesn't line up.

So, to be clear, you need one basket to win the game, you're giving it to Love over Dirk?

I'd give it to either one. Both are max players.

Oh, and let me say this about Love: he is a top 5 player in the league. That's why he deserves the max.

    1. KD
    2. Dwight
    3. Lebron
    4. Kevin Love
    5. Dwade

Offense-only is sexy in the regular season, but...

    Defense wins championships.

Duncan/Garnett/Hakeem/Shaq are 2 way players. Nobody is getting in the lane. Love is not quite there.

Because we just saw Dirk beast through Kobe/Gasol/Bynum and LeBron/Wade/Bosh less than a year ago, and we have yet to see Love even get his team to the postseason. I hate Dirk but we have seen him beast Duncan, KG and what he did last year.

Dirk isn't exactly a defensive beast, either, but he still won a championship. It's just a matter of building around the star player correctly. If your star sucks at defense, surround him with good defensive players and institute a scheme that doesn't make him a liability on that side of the ball.

How often has that succeeded? once? While all the other teams won with 2 way players.

While I agree that defense wins championships, scoring is pretty important too, especially at the end of the game. Go ask the heat about that.

Durant isn't a defensive player and neither is harden or westbrook. But the thunder have defense around them.

Love may not be a lock down defender, but he ain't terrible.

Plus, The mavericks HAD defense around Dirk. So you can see how this can be done.

Not having Lebron as number 1 makes your list automatically invalid

Durant played great D today. Westbrook is capable of playing amazing defense as well.
