Yeah, I think he is not offensive inept as people like to think. It is just that he is not needed for offense on the Celtics.
I think this all boils down to what Danny Angie and the Celtics want to do moving forward at the center spot. Look at who they have playing center right now... Both O'Neils are pretty much close to being done as big time players in this league. The Celtics really don't have any prospects at the center spot. I can't see them letting him go unless he wants crazy money or isn't healthy. As for the Rockets, if he's healthy, IMO he would be a great fit for this team. We need someone to lock down the paint which we currently don't have. It's very hard to find someone like this right now in the NBA. I'm not worried about his offense.
He actually has a decent post game, though it's pretty ugly. He can pass well enough that he's never doubled in the post (not an instant turnover) and he can make sweeping hooks when given the time and space. Not a 1-3 option for sure, but not Joel Anthony. His 1-on-1 post defense might be the best in the league. He's pretty much impossible to back down and doesn't bite on fakes. He picks his spots where he goes for blocks and boxes out very well. Great wingspan and standing reach. Obviously he's no franchise centerpiece, but I agree with him that they would have beaten the Lakers if he was not hurt. The offensive rebounding humiliation the Lakers performed on the Celtics would have never happened if he were in the game.
