...there really aren't a lot of true big boys in the league right now - the days of the big bodied centers are over. The league's best big men today are mostly tall and athletic - not necessarily heavy guys with a power game. Perk didn't need the weight and although I agree with most here that he still looks to be about the same in terms of speed/explosiveness(or lack thereof) at very least this will help him to preserve some energy and stay healthy through a long season. I would say it's a huge benefit to both his game and his team's prospects. Good for him and OKC - makes me excited to watch them this year since I'm going to need something to pick me up from the Stern sucker punch to my Rockets...
Perkins looked great tonight against the Mavs. Basically, OKC has an upgrade at starting C compared to last season. I despise Brendan Haywood and it was good to see him go up against an even nastier player and come out on the losing end a few times.
