For what it's worth I grew up in the Beaumont area myself. I've been in Houston twenty five years though. I like Texas high school basketball about as much as I like the Rockets and the NBA. I first saw Perkins when he was a sophomore in high school. Then he was big and gangly. He had trouble running up and down the court.
I saw Stephen Jackson play once, a high school playoff game his Junior year. His team beat my old high school team by 3 pts. Jackson's team PA Lincoln went on to went the state championship in class 4A. The rest of his career is history.
