CNN's John King: 'We got played again' by Trump CNN's chief national correspondent John King on Friday ripped Donald Trump's campaign for its handling of an event during which the GOP presidential nominee promised a "major announcement." Trump had said he would deliver a statement Friday in Washington about whether he believes President Obama was born in the U.S. Trump began the event talking for several minutes about his new hotel, then had veterans speak on his behalf for nearly a half-hour, before finally delivering a four-sentence statement and leaving without taking questions. "We got played, again, by the Trump campaign, which is what they do," King said on CNN moments after Trump wrapped up his event. "He got a live event broadcast for some 20 minutes." King said he meant no disrespect for the military veterans honored at the Trump event and said voters would make their decision about how Trump framed his event. His remarks echoed those of other journalists on social media, who blasted Trump for waiting until the end of a high-profile event to deliver a short statement. CNN's Jake Tapper said that the public got "rickrolled" by Trump — a reference to a 2000s meme that tricked people into clicking on a link to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" music video — while the network's chief political analyst Gloria Borger called Trump's move a "breathtaking act of political expediency." "It is insulting what he just did," Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.), a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, said of Trump on CNN. "And he has done it time and time and time again, which tries to divide us as a nation," Meeks continued. "It's like he thinks that it's a game, you're playing a TV show." http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-brief...n-king-we-got-played-again-by-trump-campaign#
Trump honors Vets at his event, gets them free air time and jsingles insults him? That is beyond sick.
The birther thing was eight years ago. It was about Barack Obama, who is at the end if his time in office and is not running this time. If Hillary is so lacking in things to attack Trump with that this is the most powerful assault that she can come up with to launch on him, then she is in a much worse and weaker position than I thought. As far as Trump, he does not care if Obama was born on the moon, which was the unspoken hidden subtext underlying his press conference today.
Maybe someday CNN will learn a lesson? Next time, maybe come and film and decide after the fact if it was worth broadcasting.
BS. Debunked. The one volunteer who forwarded an email, was fired by Clinton within a day. Then Clinton's campaign manager called Obama's to apologize.
Doesn't matter if they were fired the next day, they still started the idea of it while working for the Clinton campaign.
Yup, and Trump would know, he was a really big Hillary supporter in those days, where do you think he got it?
'Hillary operative' = random individual who supported Hillary. I'm not sure conservatives want to open that door because I have a whole webpage of thousands of 'deplorables' on Stormfront who have been life long straight ticket conservative voters. "The Tea Party isn't racist because a couple of self-described tea baggers said racist things!"... Oh how cognitive dissonance runs rampant amongst conservatives.
You're seriously ****ing comparing this absolute non-issue with the multi-year birther bull**** that Trump peddled? Jesus, the intellectual dishonesty in this thread is staggering sometimes.
UM....For the Trump Dumbasses........Politico just post a story on who started the Birther thing. It started in 2004, by a guy who is a "serial" political candidate in Illinois. Republicans and Conservatives took it from there. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/birther-movement-founder-trump-clinton-228304
