JVG: "I don't think theres a downside to this this" "I never shied away from coaching guys who love the game" - when asked if he would coach Ron. "I think the rockets along with the lakers and the celtics have the best talent in the league" "I dont really worry about their chemistry, their infrastructure is so strong it can handle a wild card"
1. JVG would have "gone to sacramento, piggybacked Artest, and brought him to Houston" if he had a chance to coach a guy like him. 2. Loves to coach guys who are hard workers, love the game, even if they might have some problems off the court. 3. Artest is a "ball stopper." Said the ball sticks to him so it will be interesting to see how Adelman works around that. 4. Thinks LAL, Hornets and Rockets are the big 3 in the west. 5. Thinks Artest is underpaid and understands he is in a contract year so he should be on his best behavior. Thats about it. Nothing really new from his previous interviews.
6. Artest's offense is very underrated. Especially his post game. 7. Other teams will have difficulty guarding TMac/Artest combo because both are lethal. 8. Told Tim Melton he wanted to give a shout out to DD and V-Span.
yeah what the 2 other people said.. he also said artest is underestimated as an offensive player, which i think he said before. said something about tmac and artest..one on the low post..can't guard them.. sorry for the inaccuracy.
jvg: I WISH I WERE STILL THE COACH OF THE ROCKETS, ARTEST JUST PUT THEM OVER THE TOP (NOT AN ACTUAL QUOTE, BUT BASICALLY SUMS IT UP) other analyst: hes exactly what the rockets wanted and needed, but hes a knucklehead(several times repeated) me: artest will put this team above all other teams not named lakers or celtics. and im not saying that we wont beat them, just that those 2 teams are actually threats to us.
