Not really rockets related per se but an article showing how awesome JVG is as a person. Wish he would be willing to rejoin the rockets organization in any capacity... http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/06/usw...an-klingenberg-are-living-with-jeff-van-gundy
i think jvg would be singing a different tune if he had hope solo living under his roof. it'd be late 90s NY vs Miami all over again. womp womp.
good read. thanks. i've always loved jvg as a person. he feels like a genuinely great person to me. sometimes i find it strange for me to have that kinda feeling toward a total stranger. also like his try sense of humor.
Yep real recognize real. A real gentleman like JVG recognizes real sports like basketball and football (the real one) not the fake tough guy one. Kudos to you JVG - a great human being and a persona role model
Tremendous on the tube, and I wouldn't mind seeing him on the bench for the Rockets, assuming that he's bought into what Morey wants to see on the court from a Rocket offense. Yeah, I like JVG.
If he is willing to come back as an assistant coach to Houston, I would welcome that very much. He is a very humble man, and so is McHale. They might be able to work together. I think JVG would accept that. Morey and Les, should realize the potential advantage of bringing him back to Houston. JVG loves Houston. He apologized to the City of Houston, when the Utah Jazz came back to beat us from being 0-2 down to take the series 3-2. Which coach would have the grace to do that today? We need him to be our defensive coordinator. McHale is better at giving the players a free hand, and that's important, but JVG can instill discipline while working with the head coach.
^^ dont believe jvg will take anything short of a head coach job, nor do i think he should. his personality, if i am not mistaken, is so strong that it will make it difficult for him to be an assistant - no matter how humble he looks.
Is JVG still considered a New Yorker now? He's pretty much adopted Houston as his home and I don't think he will ever move. I hated watching Gundy ball, but I really like him as a person. He's really contributed to the Houston community.
I see JVG at Rice basketball games sometimes and he's really into it. He cheers as hard as any Rice alumni. Last year he was there when Rice a double OT game and he was talking about what an exciting game it was to watch. I went up to him once and told him him how much I appreciated his time as the Rockets coach. He seemed really nice and down to earth.
