The narrative and motive may be different, but I still haven't seen evidence that the attack was faked.
Everyone was led to believe this was a white supremacist/pro-Trump attack on an African American/ member of the LGBT community. That was the story here. Jussie Smollett being mugged at night minus the racial/Trump angle is a much much different story. It's pretty clear this is going in a much different direction. The, "wait but ..." posts are pathetic.
No, I definitely agree with you. His initial story smelled funny as more details came out. Shame on him if he lied about why he was attacked. That doesn't change the fact that he was assaulted.

I dont think the attack was staged. I just dont think the attack happened at all. It felt like -20 that night in chicago. No one was spending extended amounts of time outside.

I heard one report that said (or suggested) that the actor's part in Empire is ending; and that (perhaps) this was staged (with help from fellow actors) to keep the "victim's" name in the news; ie, raise his profile. Yes it sounds stupid but......
The reports about him being cut from Empire are now disputed. But, it is being reported that two Nigerians have been arrested. I'm not feeling them screaming "this is MAGA country" while beating him. I don't know what is going on, but it doesn't add up so far.
