That's too bad. One less free agent, more money other NBA clubs have to spend in free agency.

    That's correct.

It stinks too. Navarro actually isn't a bad player.

Wow. That Gasol trade keeps looking worse and worse. Navarro looked pretty good for them.

as it will remain as long as the dollar keeps dropping or the Euro keeps rising. Right now, it's both.

    The NBA is fixed...

Who heard stern getting booed really loud when he presented the Finals MVPP trophy?

Call me when an American makes the switch. A Spaniard pulling a VSpan isn't a good indication of the strength of the Euroleague.

Navarro's buyout was $2 million. The Grizzlies contributed $500k towards his buyout and his salary was $500k leaving $1 million owed.

IMO he didn't do enough to secure a multi-year MLE level deal in the NBA. I reckon at best he could have gotten was maybe a 2 year deal starting at $2-3 million.

Wasn't Starbury thinking of playing in Italy? Oh wait, that still doesn't show strength in the Euroleague...

I thought it was hilarious, Boston should be sucking Stern's nuts right now and thanking him.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Marbury is widely regarded as being bat **** insane

Thats better for him, he is more the European guy and obviously he gets more money and understands the language there.

The value of the dollar will hurt the NBA going forward...if players can make more money playing in Europe for less games per year...a lot of them will choose to take it.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

We're lucky Scola wanted to prove himself worthy of being a starter in the best league in the world. I still can't believe the Spurs were so stupid!

    2 things:

    1. Navarro is a citizen of Spain. I believe in Europe, there are often restrictions on how many non-citizens can play on each team. The citizenship part adds value Navarro. An American playing in Spain wouldn't get that bonus.

    2. The real question about whether NBA will bleed talent is whether a player who can get above MLE money (which would mean that the guy is likely regarded as a difference maker) will be able to get more in Europe than in the NBA.

Right now, the guys who choose to be in Europe are no more than decent role players in the NBA (if not outright scrubs). I don't think NBA is really worse off becasue Macijawskas, Jasikevicious, Spanoulis, Tsakalides, Navarro and company are not in it.

I suppose Dirk, Gasol, Parker, and Ginobili don't count.
