Actually, there are many very possible scenarios in which a S&T benefit everyone involved. First, the Kings may want to use their capspace for someone else as well as wanting Josh Smith, and the other FA's original team would not want to do the S&T. A S&T allows the Kings to utilize more money, since a trade allows for 150% difference. So say the Kings sign Smith for $7mil. We can do a S&T where we get Collison at $5mil and effectively create $2mil of capspace for them. Is a S&T required for the Kings to get Josh Smith? No. But is it possible that it becomes the most beneficial scenario for everyone involed.
But that has no bearing on FA. Keeping Brewer and Beverley did not cost the Rockets anything besides Les Alexander's money. However, unless Josh Smith takes the ~$2mil we can offer him without dipping into the MLE, keeping Josh Smith require sacrifice. It's possible the Rockets find there are players more worthy of that portion or entire MLM more than Josh Smith. I don't know who they'd be, since I have never been able to guess Morey's moves. But the comparison here isn't Josh Smith vs. Nothing. It's Josh Smith vs. some other player for the MLE we have.
I going to laugh maniacally if Sac offers Smith a multi year deal at $10 per and he turns it down for our 1 year $2.5 offer.
They cant get even roleplayers to sign with them for more money. I highly doubt that capspace is of worry to them. More like finding a player to fill the roster.cant see collison traded. but tgen again its the kings
F Off!! What broke ass libtard state do you live in? Im sure one where hate runs rampant due to poor policy and lack of respect for freedom and the American dream. Dont crap on the locals of this forum keep it on your own people in your own state!
Bro this isn't the D&D. You two need to just chill. If you really want to discuss this further take it out of the GARM please.
Excuse my stupidity, but I thought the Rockets did not have Bird's Rights on Josh Smith. And as such, they cannot sign and trade him. The only thing they can do is sign him with an exception (like MLE) but those are contracts that cannot be traded immediately. So why are people talking about a S&T as though it were even a possibility?
The Rockets have non-Bird rights on Josh Smith so technically they can S&T him if they wanted but the max salary would only be for about 2.49 million. You are right about the Rockets being able to use the MLE to sign him but they would not be able to S&T him using the MLE. Best case scenario for the Rockets is for Josh to resign using non-Bird rights for the season to play on the Rockets.
I agree with you except I don't think he has fully recovered from the nerve injury all the way. Then you add a punctured lung on top of that and I don't know what people expect. I still think he can be the best PF on the team if we keep him. I like the whole team from last year I just want them all back healthy.
He is already getting 7 mil for Detroit for two more years . That's essentially a max contract. $15 mil. That would be severe overpay
Brewer, Beverly, then Josh. Morey won't pay more for Josh. Brewer was #1 priority. Josh won't make more than Beverly.
I think Jones is a solid backup PF, but it is almost a guarantee he is gone next year when he is an RFA. So, if the Rockets can bring Smith back and package TJones with non-guarantees and maybe picks to upgrade elsewhere, it makes a ton of sense.
that would really only be 3.75 million more for smith. plus the higher taxes in cali vs tx. plus he would be getting playoff bonus checks in houston and not at the kings. so really it would only be maybe a few million difference.
I see someone has been brainwashed by FoxNews. Dumbasses like you is why Texas gets Rick Perry and Ted Cruz...u dumb ****.
Non Bird Rights 2.49 M plus 5M from the Pistons is not a bad deal. He could of course chose to take up a better offer.
If Bev is starting PG, then Smoove should start at PF. Rockets still do not have that 2nd facilitator on 1st unit.
