I was wondering if something happened between him and Dwight? First he didn't feel like he was close enough to anyone on the team to even call Dwight? Then he refers to Rondo as his best friend. Dwight was the best man at his wedding so all of that has me shaking my head just a little. Both of those comments seem like they could be a bit of a slight at Dwight.
I can't knock Josh for what he did for the Rockets on the floor. He provided a spark off of the bench in many games and when he started in the play-offs he was very effective. For 2 million dollars he was a hell of a deal. We would not have made it to the WCF without him.
He was the x factor in the Clippers series. Getting Lawson wouldn't offset the loss of Smith. Especially to the Clippers.
I can't wait til they self destruct. I have a feeling that by the end of the regular season that team will be a circus
He's officially the new Sprewell minus the coach choking, and minus the (stupidly) turning down $30m.
My guess is that the Rockets had the Lawson deal in the works for a while, Smith was informed TJ and Motie will be on the Rockets next year and that he's welcomed to return and fight for a role among them, but would not be guaranteed any minutes. Smith was probably offended and said deuce, signed on the Clips for cheaper. Clips told him they'd guaranteed him 20+ minutes a night, he was impressed by Doc, and the Clips obviously are still a very good team and still in one of the greatest city's to live. Makes sense, kinda sucks for us but I understand it from Josh's perspective. Nothing the rockets could really do about it, can't promise him we'll trade Jones or Motie any time soon.
Who cares that he now wants to be a Flopper Was never a fan of his game Moving on.........................
At the end of the day, KJ McDaniel was more important to us than Josh Smith because they gave him the MLE money. I don't blame Josh for feeling a little insulted. I'm not say I agree or disagree with the Rocket's decision but those are the facts.
I look at it a little differently. Rockets wanted to send Terrence Jones to get Lawson but didn't want to sign Smith until Jones was gone. So they kept him waiting as they were signing everybody else. Once he left, the Rockets changed their offer to Denver from Jones to the draft pick.
Wow, after complaining about 3-4 million pay from det and clippers I no longer like him. His head is not screwed on right.
Thanks Josh. His highlights from Game 6 against LAC will live on forever. Good luck in LA but not too much luck
Jones is better than all of the players who were traded to Denver. The only possible explanation for rejecting him, would be his future RFA status, but his current 2 M plus contract plus relatively decent production would be useful for them.
