absolutely not but it is actually insane to try and justify Josh Smiths poor jumpshooting by point at Kobe who is ancient and coming off a ruptured achilles and knee injury.

Kobe has made those shots for the better part of his entire career. As his athleticism has fallen off those shots have become increasingly more challenged and he's struggling to generate as much space given he can't get to the basket anymore.

The problem is Kobe will still be popular around the league until his retirement and we will be having conversations about him and his old age in the near future

Sports bring out some of the most ridiculous logics because the concept is so different from our everyday life.

In real life, I have never heard someone say, "Person A has done something well for 10 years. But this year he's utter crap at it. But he keeps doing it. Smartest man I know, this fella!"

But if Kobe does it, it makes perfect sense.

Its like the last scene in "That Mitchell and Webb Show". They're all asking the 'brilliant' Sherlock Holmes for his opinions on cases and his responses mean that its just obvious that he can't do it anymore (dementia or whatever).

Everyone else knows, but they oblige him anyway. This isn't dissmilar to whats going on with Kobe. Everyone knows him jacking contested fadeaway after contested fadeaway/playing no defense is actually being detrimental to the team, but based on his prior greatness they (being the media and fans) they are doing what Watson and the Police chief did in the shows finale.

    They're just letting it go.

But even Kobe, like Sherlock will at some point realise he just doesnt have it anymore, that he "can't get the fog to clear", in the same way Sherlock can't anymore

Low IQ is a bull**** buzz word/Euphemism

Kind of like. . saying he is 'URBAN' or has "URBAN TENDENCIES"

I knew you were going to equate it to race, it has nothing to do with that, it has everything to do with him playing beyond his means.

Plenty of low IQ players of all races.

No dude. Josh Smith likely has low IQ. And he def has low b-ball IQ

You're just obsessed with race and somehow connected two unrelated things.

    Listening to this thread

he seems like he would remind me of [IMG]

When Robert was here. . . .everyone just KNEW he could be ALL world in every facet of the game
    He had all the tools
The knock was he loffed and was lazy [the term for LOW IQ back then] during the season

But Good Defense, excellent passer/rebounder and Johnny on the spot

Josh may not have Horry's clutch Factor [but has he even been in a position to be]
but he seems to have a good toolset

Here is the funny thing .. . . I never mention race
    but
you both acknowledge that Euphemistic terms like URBAN
are used as proxy for saying something race-relate
Rather than saying something is TOO BLACK or TOO AFRICAN AMERICAN
Folx will say it is TOO URBAN

Now. . .what did I say

I did mention that it is a BuzzWord
[I remember when POTENTIAL was the buzzword for hyping up subperforming players
    *couch*VSpan*cough*]
I mention it is a Euphemism
It is because 9 times out of 10 . .. . it just means YOU DON'T LIKE THE GUY
rather than owning up to your own bias and hater-ation . .. you use a euphemism . .. ie. Low IQ

DD - you history and commentary on Smith says just that

    Rocket River
    Hilarity has ensued

RR, sure, whatever you say, Urban was unrelated to race.

And I don't like him because the way he plays is not winning basketball, IMO.

why do you keep saying this. this video of his top 10 plays this year clearly show superb athleticism, as good or still better than Covington.

you'll be pleasantly surprised when Clutch posts Smith first monster dunk or block for the Rockets. Hopefully tonight.

    cheer for it

DD doesn't want to see Smith succeed at the expense of D-Mo's playing time.

He would rather watch D-Mo play on the perimeter with Dwight hogging the touches.
