..finally. I've been looking forward to this. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/3777739.html
AWESOME. He can still contribute. The guy keeps finding ways to help this team out, and he's really funny. That's always good.
I was about to post this. Good news. Something to look forward to in the final few games. You just know Jon Barry will be a great color commentator. He'll probably get a job on national TV next season, but if not hopefully he can join the Rockets and maybe Clyde can go buy the Blazers or something.
I was looking forward to the possibility of Barry calling the games along side Bill next season, but Barry is such a good talent that I fear this small stint with us will land him a deal with TNT or ESPN. Oh well, good for him, unfortunate for us. I wish him well and will enjoy these few games that we get to listen to him.
He will be a great addition to the Rockets broadcasts, and I actually would love to see him jump on with the TNT crew someday. He'd help Ernie team up on Kenny and Charles, although I think Ernie does quite a fine job as is.
If he does go big-time, I'd rather he went to TNT than ESPN. Jon is too entertaining and smart to be wallowing down there at ESPN with those boring schmucks (I'm sorry, B.J. Armstrong and Coach may be smart but they're not very good broadcasters. And I still prefer those guys over Greg Smuganthony, Screaming A. Smith and the likes of them). </rant mode off>
that is f@#king awesome. the rockets need to offer him the home games for next year immediately before tnt gets the jump on us. he has crazy insight into van gundy's system, he's intelligent, and he's funny. perfect replacement for calvin.
Clyde and Bull should get nervous. There is no doubt in my mind that Barry will do much better then both of them.
Damn. Why couldn't it be Cynthia Cooper? She was absolutely fabulous and they seemed to just cut her loose for some reason. Barry doesn't have an ounce of Cooper's natural broadcasting ability and he's obnoxious. At least Coop brought some class and dignity to the broadcast. She was just a natural. Sometimes it's best to leave broadcasting to the professionals. Cooper was to the Rockets what Dan Rather was to CBS or Walter Cronkite was to Fox. Jon Barry is just going to be another Connie Chung when what we really needed was a Maury Povich. Oh well.
Of course, for example: Bill Worrell: Clyde, Yao has been playing so much more aggressively, taking matters into his own hands, scoring the ball at will, hitting the boards with a ferocity we have not seen before. Clyde Drexler: Bill, not only that, but he's playing better too.
