Without a doubt he'll be starting next to Cush. Dobbins isn't a starting LB to begin with. Great special teamer and backup but not a starter. Mays however is limited. He's your prototypical 2 down LB. He's great against the run and in goal line situations, but he lacks a lot of coverage ability. He's also a bone-head as you may remember last years place against us. He gets a lot of flags/penalties called against him because he's a headhunter. He's an upgrade over what we have and he'll be a good fit so long they play him to his strengths, but the Texans will need to draft a starter next year. Sharpton will not play much and will not be brought back. He's a great player that can't stay healthy even if you wrapped him in bubble wrap.

Pretty great deal for the Texans. Redskins wanted him bad but couldn't get an agreement so I wonder what they offered, but from what I've read he wanted to be here to begin with and that the Texans were seeking him out more aggressively than others.

Nah Dobbins is a backup. Depending on how he looks in camp he may make Sharpton expendable. They have the same measurables but Mays plays more than four games a season
Reminds me of Bernard Pollard. I love seeing guys give it up to set the tone of aggression. I hope he can stop the run but either way I see Cush benefiting from his aggression mentally and statistically
I'm glad the front office recognizes a need at ILB, and I think Mays may be a good stop gap until we can draft a nice LB next year, because Sharpton is never going to be healthy.
His only problem is dropping back into coverage. Something our ILBs do more than anything... so I'd say it's still a depth move. Hoping for more of course.
I really like this signing if he stays healthy I feel like we might've found our weak side linebacker. Especially since were looking for a 2 down inside linebacker potentially with Brooks moving inside for passing downs and having Mercilus and company for OLB's. Amazing how much a weakness can change in six months without a spending spree on the fa market.
Our linebackers still suck balls in coverage (Cushing's probably a bit above average). However, having LB's who can cover in the NFL is probably a luxury anyway.
