Hope Watt still wins DPOY, but he won't he misses games and his stats, namely sacks, don't maintain.. Kuechly and CAR are ballin. I'd rather JJ win DPOY and we miss the playoffs than vice versa. We're not winning more than one round. No playoffs equals much better draft position and a better chance of Rick getting fired.

Whats the difference between a draft position in the lower twenties (playoffs) vs. the late teens (no-playoffs)? I don't think it matters that much? Regardless the first round will be a defensive player of some sort and then Hack in round 2.

Might as well root for them to go to the playoffs. No?

Why must first round be defensive? I'd rather have 7 rounds picking 5-8 picks higher and increase Smith's chances of getting fired. No way he's canned if we make the playoffs.

Its just the way they are. Probably will draft a CB or DT or LB. Just like Kubiak had a fetish for TEs, the Texans have a fetish for defensive players in the first round. Not sure why. Carl Nassib in round 1 and then Hack in round 2.

Belichik is similar in that regard. The Patriots drafts are usually defensive-heavy at the top. They have 3 (Mankins, Maroney, and Solder) offensive players in the 1st round of the last 10 drafts.

Understand why guys want playoff games, but I'm thinking more long term.

Are fans now happy with Rick?

They're only one year removed from having the #1 pick in every round.... a high draft pick guarantees nothing short or long term if you're not going to consistently miss on mid-round picks year after year (which doesn't require having the top pick every round).

I'd rather play meaningful games for an entire season.

    Smith is the long term

Do you seriously believe that Rick Smith's employment status is based solely on playoffs vs. no playoffs? Do you really think it's that black and white??

    Okay, that's fine.

Go Playoffs and Smith's 100% chance of retaining his job!!!

Watt with one serviceable hand is still the best DE in the league.

With that said though, he was human tonight. :/

This isn't good if this is the version we'll get the rest of the year.

Any word on if his hand will get better over the season? Does he need surgery after the season?
