NY Knicks will have all of this FA money available, they will be used for every RFA trying to get a rich deal.

Jimmy Butler is going to get PAID. Same with Kwahi Leonard.

Doubtful. This is Butler's first huge contract and he will probably take the money & security like most guys have. I guess you never know though.

IMO, the top 3 shooting guards are Harden, Butler and Klay Thompson. I'm not sure which is #2 after Harden.

IMO Butler is second. Klay is a shooter, doesn't rebound well, doesn't pass either. Butler is better

    Good all round player, but

    Does he hit big shots?

    Create his own offense?

    Will his team to victory?

    still getting max, but I'm wondering . . .

These are the up-and-coming players. The older stars are starting to decline. Butler & co. know it's their time to shine. And get paid.

    Jimmy > Klay

So if Klay got that kind of money, why wouldn't Jimmy?

So he turns down a 4 year $44 million dollar extension. Just what are you hinting at? Look we don't need another wing scorer. We have a talented roster. We need to show effort on defense and a coach who emphasizes systematic ball movement.

The only way Butler comes here is if we become the Tomball Rockets

Butler's interest in NY is mainly leverage. They have the cap space to offer him the MAX and he can play that up to the Bulls.

Butler is an RFA so he is just getting market value and forcing the Bulls to match and they will.

I just don't see anyway Butler is not back in Chicago.

Here's how he may leave Chicago. Butler is the ultimate competitor. He wants to play for championships and win rings. Originally, he was set to re-sign for the max and play with Rose as each other's sidekicks to attempt to win championships. Now....Rose is dinged for the umpteenth time.

Butler does have leverage to force his way out. He has already bypassed an extension to play for more money and he's already earned a 4-year max offer from an outside team. For the Bulls to really show they love him, they'll need to offer him more than that, either the 5th year and/or the 7.5% raises that go with a max home team offer.

If Butler doesn't get that extra dough, he may decide he wants to to elsewhere....especially with Rose dinged. Chicago is hoping and praying he simply goes out and secures a max contract offer from another team.

So, you tell me.....what team is going to provide Butler the obligatory 4-year max offer for the Bulls to match? I mean...why tie up the cap space when something else might break down while the cap space is tied up? And if Butler wants to leave Chicago..or he wants even more money and he knows he can get it by simply deferring to 2016.....then he just might threaten to sign the qualifying offer and leave Chicago holding the bag in 2016.

It's not a no-brainer that Butler returns to Chicago. And Derrick Rose's health issues only compound the complexity of this summer's decisions for both Chicago and Butler.

Boom. You hit the nail on the head, with Rose pretty much out of the picture I'm sure he thinks he can make a leap like Harden.

Pretty stupid of the Bulls to think thehy could lowball him earlier though.

This is such a non-story. The Bulls probably thought it would be more insulting to not offer him an extension. They didn't sign him to the max amount yet b/c of possible injuries this year. They're just going to wait for someone to offer him the max and match it instantaneously.

jimmy butler is NOT a max player. He will get paid like one, but he isn't one. Its too bad the bulls will match. he would be a great contract burden on a team in the west.

Can the Bulls buyout Rose to clear the salary for next year? 20 million for glass knees? Seem that 15 million max spend on Jimmy would make sense.

Butler next to harden would make us defensively amazing. Harden plays pg anyways so that wouldnt be an issue.

That said bulls will resign him so whatever.

The Bulls are matching anything and everything he gets, especially given Derrick Rose's status. LOL at any Knicks fan getting his hopes up to be able to lure Butler away while Chicago just watches from the sidelines.
