http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaJcyVNju4k&feature=youtube_gdata_player He's a head case but he has size and decent ball skills. I wouldn't Mind taking a flyer on the 19 year old!!
I wouldn't mind either. At 6'11 240+ lbs and he has overseas experience already. Has a lot of room for improvement at 19 years old.
And he is playing for a team in Tokyo which I believe is coached by former Spurs coach Bob Hill. So it is actual good experience overseas.
The more I think about it the more I think this is a no brainer for the 23 pick. He grew up playing SF and can shoot free throws. he's #8. 19 year old <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KHibSXCrIL8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
He could be worth a look with the 2nd round pick. Jordan Williams, Keith Benson and Greg Smith are other candidates too.
I guess I'm late to the party. I would love to take a flyer on this kid. Has good handles for his size, and he shows some decent footwork in some of his highlights.
I've been following Jeremy Tyler all year in Japan. If you had asked me 6 months ago I would have said he was only worth a late 2nd round pick. But he ended the season really well and showed a lot of improvement. If he can improve so dramatically in one year playing in Japan imagine what he will be able to do with a solid NBA organization. I think Houston would be ab excellent landing spot for him. I'm sure Patterson, Hill, Hayes, Miller and Scola could really push Tyler to achieving his potential. Not a single head case veteran on the roster . . . something that can only be said about a couple of clubs. http://www.asiabasketballupdate.com/jeremy-tyler.html
There just isnt enough out there for the fans to really know if he is worth it or not. However, in the limited Youtube highlights shown you can notice (inbetween the dunks on guys who are all 5'10" which proves nothing) that his hands are a huge concern. The way he was handling that ball on a fast break would raise flags to me right away. I will repeat though, that this is very limited footage for us to analyze. I also understand he is only 19. I just wouldnt get too excited to use even a 2nd rounder on this kid if the Rockets staff doesnt feel like he has the experience to make it in the NBA. Remember that they do like their draft prospects to have enough experience to record enough data to eliminate the "bust" factor in draft prospects. Look at their history of drafting and you will see that they NEVER draft prospects as raw and unproven as Jeremy Tyler.
Jeremy Tyler just upped his stock by measuring with a 7'5 wingspan and 9'4.5 standing reach. I would draft this kid with our 23rd pick.
He's pretty well spoken. Please draft him at 23 Morey <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bjMSNSlyyBQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Honestly Tyler looks to me like a carbon copy of Demarcus Cousins: immature, but with a lot of bball IQ and talent. Sure, he didn't dominate like Cousins in college, but c'mon man, that was NCAA. Adam Morrison was a superstar there, Tyler was going up against real bad-asses in Turkey. In Japan he was good enough to play 16 minutes against grown men in Japan despite only being 19 years old. Plus, his combine measurements look great, even better than Cousins (because he wasn't as fat). Honestly, I'd be surprised if he lasts till 23, DM should trade the Squid with the 23rd and trade up to make sure we get him. Forget about Kanter and his wonky knees. Draft Jordan with the 14th and trade up to the teens to get this kid asap. Oh yeah let's get Isiah THomas for the lulz.

His ability and potential is surely intriguing, but I just don't think he is ready. Maybe a second rounder, but someone will probably reach. From an article: "... And if you followed the story, you know that things didn’t go well there—Tyler struggled on the court, was frequently late and once walked out on the team in the middle of a game because he wasn’t getting enough playing time. He quit the team before the season ended, and slipped pretty far off the American radar thereafter... He says if he could do things all over again, he wouldn’t change anything. He stands by his choices. Still, though, he wouldn’t necessarily advise other high school juniors to take his route..." After watching him at the combine, i am convinved that he will not disappoint any team that drafts him. The kid actually has an emerging jumpshot and at just 19, plenty of time to improve.
