Also #20 out of what? 30 teams? That's not bad

Brother, don't envy the success of others. Dragic showed great potential as a game changer in Phoenix's playoff run a while back. I watched those games live. There was never a doubt in my mind that Dragic and Lowry were just better players than Lin and anyone who watched basketball objectively agreed with me. I see a lot of unnecessary hate on this board towards anyone who threatens the delusions of grandeur of a certain subset of fans.

According to Morey's public-facing comments at the time, that wasn't the case. They always intended to go after Jeremy Lin, according to him.

Well there are teams like Brooklyn with 5-6 of the worst contracts...

If Lin were starting in the eastern conference, he could probably be in the conversation for top PG, though that's not much of an honour these days.

Morey? Roster genius. Grantland? Smart, intelligent but no Morey.

How has this "marketing" appeal helped Houston so far? There are still lots of empty seats at home games. All those overseas trips are on behalf of the NBA, not just the Houston Rockets.

I want to see some hard numbers on this mythical "marketing bonanza" that Lin apparently brings.

Asik yes, Lin, not so much. It makes sense that at least lin hasn't played up to his moneys worth. We have a 7 million dollar backup to hour 800k starting PG. so i'd say we got ripped off.

Because GMs are totally reading the forums and taking advice from people who have no professional experience at all

We didn't have 2 All-Stars at the same positions when the deals were signed.

From Jason Friedman post game against the Wizards:

Though this might not have anything to do with Lin. It's more about that the team has been playing good and it's fun to watch them. That's why we have 26 sellout games so far.

Seriously? You say yes to Asik but no to Lin? You must be talking about last season, definitely not about this season.

The owners give a shlt that's who. Last time I checked the owners have a say in trades.

Speaking of Bill Simmons and the Lin/Asik contract... I posted this in another thread, but it is pertinent here too:

Funny. Homer Bill's team may end up trading for both of those "bad contracts".

You can play Lin and Dragic together. Not sure what would have happened when Harden became available.

If Joe Johnsin got traded and Atlanta got a first round pick in the deal, anything can happen.

Anyways, the perceptions of both a player and his contract can shift quickly in the NBA. One month, Lowry is a chubby PG who butts heads with coaches, the next he is the best PG in the East. The difference apparently being having Patrick Patterson to make Kyle look good.

Both Lin and Asik are young and good enough that improved skills or a change of situation could quickly shift the perception of these guys' contracts.

So, according to this, the Rockets could have ended up with both Lin and Dragic if Dragic accepted a deal without player option and Lin accepted a deal that NYK does not match?
