if Jones and Casspi can fill the PF slot
there is no reason to trade Asik
unless it get us a 3rd star

Lin and Asik both will not be traded until next season when their salaries boost from 5 million to 15.

Why when their cap hit is only 16 total? The 7 million difference in salary for each of them doesn't factor into the luxury tax numbers for any trade partners, and if either one of them is under performing as an $8 mill cap hit the entire 3 million trade cash would have to be used moving them. Just pay them their 30 million, let them walk at the end of the season if unhappy with them, sign a PF or PG with the bulk of the $16 mill off the cap, extend Parsons, lock in the team.

If Jeremy gets brought back it'll be at a higher cap hit than currently but a lower salary, and can try to sign and trade Omer to whatever team he decides on when he's a free agent.

If you find a package for Omer that upgrades the team you do it, in some cases involving Lin depending on the degree of the upgrade. Salary considerations shouldn't be an issue though.

Harden + Bev. let Harden have more procession,
but it also makes the opponent's double team easier.

    The Rockets should start Lin.

The Rockets should trade Lin. Just one good game and it is a small sample size. His fan is so annoying, they even posted this:

    This is just too much!

    Lin -Burger
    Lin -Tini
    Lin & Tonic
    YanLing Beer

    ;););)

Well, after he is gone, we will have posters like Dei and GlennRice back in GARM!

    You're absolutely right.

The starting unit is hampered offensively without Lin to facilitate.

No-one seems to know how to run plays out there except for Lin. They are all free-styling and look lost on offense. Lin needs to be the floor general and Harden and Dwight need to get their points from the flow of the offense.

Its very much forced ugly sticky bball the starting 5 is playing at the moment and its not just the TT. T-Jones in the starting unit for the 2nd half too. That line-up played especially ugly and lost the lead.

Maybe even package Lin with Asik and get a legit point guard like Rondo? Bev would make a great 6th man as well.

Would be interesting. But, the only reason the pg position is an issue at all is because of McHale. We were fine in that position and we were set until McHale felt Lin wasn't cutting it even though it was clear Lin was bringing it during preseason. McHale doesn't let Lin play pg which in my frank opinion is our biggest problem which inevitably leads to a less energized defense as well. Perhaps with Rondo, McHale will let him play pg. I would be for a Rondo trade if that were the case for chemistry's sake. However, if McHale is adamant that Harden lead the offense regardless it will be even worse cuz Rondo can't shoot worth a lick and is the definition of a ball dominant pg. Were I McHale, I'd let Lin loose and maybe then we will see a more fluid offense (Lins style of play is more conducive to a run n gun fluid offense point blank) and even though so many of you guys don't like it when someone accuses McHale of shackling Lin, he is. Not saying that McHale hates him or some other stupid thing like that. But clearly McHale doesn't think (didn't?) Lin was a net plus and as soon as he found a potential viable replacement, sample size be damned, he jumped at it. He also clearly did not feel that a large part of our run no gun offense was due to Lin, who is also the definition of a good run n gun quick offensive pg. Point being, McHale can't continue to assert that Linsanity was a fluke as he has done several times already in public, and he's got to lie him run the offense even with a superstar like Harden.

you're absolutely right, rondo would fit this team perfectly with his excellent 3 point shooting.

Because the team would be lost without Lins 3 point prowess? "LOL"

I'd take the efficiency, defense, distribution and leadership Rondo brings all day long.

No. He's done this before but can also do his thing off bench
RT @MrClutch514: @Jonathan_Feigen Lin seems better as 6th man don't you agree?

I would wait and play around with the lineup a bit more. I do not like the twin towers lineup but I think by rotating him and Howard we could be very dominant. There are not very many teams that have a good rebounding and defensive center on the floor at all times.

no need to trade asik unless rockets get something great in return. just have him come off the bench...he should be able to get 25min/game.

He's been playing well since the start of the season (both at starting point and 6th man). One difference is that he got 46 minutes last night.

Rondo is a serious assist padder and demands the ball even MORE than Harden. He would insist that the ball is in his hands to initiate every play, and expecting him to play off ball guard is at best wishful thinking.

    48% FG%, 24% 3pt%, 62% FT%.

So basically, this only works if Harden is willing to give up ALL ball handling duties since Rondo without the ball in his hand is an offensive zero.

wrote this in another thread, too....

    Chandler Parsons 50 (MIN)
    Dwight Howard 45
    Omer Asik 19 lol
    Patrick Beverley 24
    James Harden 48

    BENCH
    Terrence Jones 32
    Omri Casspi 26
    Jeremy Lin 46

Asik doesn't deserve it. He always try to hide his unhappiness with a fake smile but everybody knows that he is unhappy. You can see it.
He is not motivated to show his A game and will never in Houston Rockets.
Trading Asik will be the best move for Rockets and him.
