Monta Ellis can read obviously but he's clearly not the best candidate for this type of thing. That's why Ellis said the joke in the first place and why Lin found it pertinent to mention when writing his speech. Why do you think he chose that anecdote about Ellis, seriously. Lin was making a real point about education. That's why he emphasized that Ellis skipped straight to the NBA after high school. You need to have the proper qualifications in order to teach others, whether it's education or spiritual. That's the whole point of the anecdote.
Right, there's a difference between what you're saying here and you guys saying, "OMG Lin said Monta Ellis can't read LOL he outed him to the world what a douchebag!"
It's a dick move either way to actually use Ellis's name as the uneducated guy in order to drum up his point. I found it funny because essentially he was saying Ellis was unqualified to read to little kids. I find Ellis to be a funny character. That's all, jesus. Can't even have a laugh about something trivial.
Perhaps if you kept things in context and observe the fact it was a reply to a statement which indicated he would not be able to match Linsanity numbers - you wouldn't be shaking your head or having to remember that its almost September. But your trolling and speaking out of context does warrant a healthy ignore. Have a great life!
Response I do remember how Rockets tried to capitalize on the Linsanity fame. However, he should know that teams try to capitalize on everyone. It's like someone saying to you "your wife is so pretty"; they are just saying it because it's the way it's done. However, it's best if Lin doesn't believe anything until he knows he proved it on court.
The point is that his thought of being the cornerstone of the franchise or the franchise player wasn't a delusion or a by product of his ego. He had a legitimate reason to think that and if Harden was never traded and if the team stayed the way it was then more than likely he would've been the focal point of the team or at the very least running the show at point.
The Rockets looked good in preseason, with Lin setting up his teammates with good open shots. They were building real chemistry.
Come now: it is easy to recall lots of posters last season saying how Lin was going to be as good as CP3 etc. Those are the people who added pressure to Lin. On the other hand, the "haters" were saying Lin was respectable but not a superstar; they were the ones NOT putting pressure on Lin. I also recall that Parsons interview where his girlfriend was sitting off camera, and Parsons said all the "Lin is messiah" folks were putting unfair pressure on Lin. Oh yeah, and "Lin is Jackie Robinson, Lin is Rosa Parks" raised the bar even higher for Lin.
