We'll see what happens, but this seems more like a Chris Bosh-Carmelo Anthony situation ... it's hard to see players like this leaving when a full max offer is given to them. Why make the sacrifice when you can always steer a trade starting as early as December?

Though I do wonder about free agency this summer, if players will seek early outs so they can maximize earnings in 2016 and beyond.

Tim Duncan has said he won't play center. And Aldridge is not a center. And Spurs fans won't tolerate Their "Timmy" coming off the bench.

Dirk will have 0 ability defending 3s though. I don't think he'll go to Dallas because they'll have to sell him on playing center at some points in the game and he has 0 interest IIRC at playing Center at all.

I think I prefer him in Dallas than San Antoinio
Dallas more apt to murk it up

I dunno .. LMA not known for his defense

I can see him migrating East to get out of the bloodbath of the West.

I saw an article where LMA could make a TON more if he just signs a 1 year deal with Portland, then opts out in 2016 to sign the full 5 year deal. The Max contract ceiling will be much higher in 2016.

If he is comfortable with his health, it could give him one more year with the Blazers to see what they do to field a good team and then he could decide in 2016.

Exactly, LaMarcus Aldridge turns 30 in July. Getting him to take less money on his last big deal is going to be very very unlikely.

He would be manhandled by them in the same way the brute strength of Pablo Prigioni gives him trouble.

It would be like watching a rickety step-ladder on rusty roller-skates.

Not that Aldridge doesn't show up in the playoffs (we are all witnesses that he does, ask Terrence Jones), but I'm not ready to part with regular season James Harden or playoff Dwight Howard just yet......

LOL.. now THAT would be awesome. Watching Dirk get dominated by guards all night long. If only the Mavs were actually that dumb.

Morey will at least make the call. A big 3 of beard, d12, and LMA sounds great to me.

LMA aiming for a two year deal with a player option on the second year is the only way the Rockets could get him. They don't have cap space.

As seen here, it actually makes a lot of sense for him to sign such a deal with Portland then angle for a trade in December to maximize the amount of money he'll be paid: http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....ealize/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

In this day and age, PF and C is pretty interchangeable. I think Timmy would swallow his pride for the best shot at another ring.

Man, didn't realize he is basically 30. I thought he was still 27-28.

I can do without Smith if I'm getting LMA.

Big risk on his part unless he buys insurance of some
    Type in case of injury.

Can we compare Miami and New York with Portland? I mean, he could go to NBA team with a bigger market.
I agree, San Antonio is a different story. Best coach in the game and perhaps the best fit for LMA, IMO.
