I believe he was just recently talking about coming back. Oh well.
I was seriously thinking that Hill retiring had something to do with it and then find out here that they were co-rookies of the year. Hope there are more to come, time for a new era and for the old farts to say goodbye.
Sad to see it end, but it was time. When you go scoreless for ten straight games shooting 0-17, you don't belong in the league anymore.

probably my favorite non-rocket of all-time, but pretty much haven't given a crap about him in the past 5 years. hate that the mavs won a ring, but glad that he got one before his career ended. happy trails, jason. was as great of a play-maker as any pg who has ever played.
Appropriate for the two to retire together, as they were my two favorite players of their generation. I don't think we'll ever see anything quite like prime Kidd or peak Hill again, both were exceptionally unique players.
The knicks owed him $6.2 million over the next two seasona. If he just showed up next season 1 year older then they would have bought him out for at least $4 million. I know he is very rich, but something tells me he did this moreso to help the knicks with their LT issues. Maybe the ny media finally broke him.
But did he actually formally retire? Hakeem signed a three-year deal with the Raptors, retired after 1, but didn't formally retire until his contract was up so he could collect the dough.
