If you're purely talking statistics…sure. If you're talking talent and potential in the NFL, then Goff is the most talented QB in college…And as far as our discussions on a Texans forum, that's more important than salivating over a QB who dominates Stephen F Austin.
i dont think goff will be much in the nfl usually qbs who come out of college, dominate in college... whether its bradford, rg3, cam, andrew luck, russell wilson, dalton, even tannehill had some success goff won only 5 games as a sophomore qb, thats awful for a supposed generational talent at qb
Man, Tom Brady absolutely dominated in college. I wish I could have watched him more when he was in college.
When people say he's the best QB in college, that doesn't mean they are saying he's a generational talent. Dont get that confused. Funny that you bring up Goff as a sophomore in college only winning 5 games. Guess what Newton did his sophomore year? 2 pass attempts. Russell Wilson? He won 5 games his sophomore year too. Did RG3 win a ton of games his sophomore year? No. Andy Dalton threw a whopping 11 TDs his sophomore year.
Tommie Frasier won 11 games his sophomore year and was a missed last second 45-yd FG away from beating noted awesome Heisman college qb Charlie Ward for the national championship.
So did Aaron Rodgers. <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=cfb&url=%2Fcfb%2Fplayers%2Faaron-rodgers-1.html&div=div_passing"></script> Oh . . . wait.
So you're saying that there are QBs that do well their sophomore years? Not sure what point you're trying to make…when it really comes down to sophomore year stats not really being indicative of future NFL success.
H2C said QBs usually dominate in college. Eddie brought up Tom Brady, who didn't dominate in college. I brought up Aaron Rodgers, who didn't dominate in college.
let me rephrase that, did tom brady not make a bowl game at michigan, what about aaron rodgers at Cal. Do you know how bad you have to be to win only 5 games in a power 5 conference, im not knocking Goff. If scouts are sold on him who am I to say any different, im just saying that is worrisome. This year againist UCLA and UTAH he choked hard, Cody Kessler didnt throw 5 picks againist Utah, i was never impressed with Utah as a defense, and Goff couldnt pick them apart, thats troublesome
it is on fox...and then redeems himself with a solid drive for a score. His anticipation for routes is special. He really trusts his receivers to get to spots...very hard to teach.
Yeah his poise and demeanor is A+. And also his vision to see the whole field and use his eyes to get defenders out of position is top notch.
Goff is starting to remind me more and more of Blaine Gabbert. I have a feeling he stays in school. I'm not sold like others are. The more I watch him, the less sold I am. Throw a pick and get upset about it? Give me Hackenberg or Cook.
Yeap. I still think the potential is too much to pass up IMO if he's available unless he falls flat on his face at the combine.
