* Antics * Manipulating the game * Foul hunting * Heroball Make sure to get all of those buzzwords in there, Kirk.
From the article: "Since the beginning of the 2017-18 season, 122 NBA players have run at least 200 isolation plays, and Harden leads the way with 1.14 points per iso. The average half-court play in the NBA has only been worth 0.96 points this season, so the Rockets would be foolish not to exploit such a giant margin." To break this down, Harden in ISO is 29% more effective at scoring points than the league average half-court play. That's not just an edge, that's a whole different plane of existence.
I must congratulate you, Inspector, on handling so distinctive and instructive a case. Your powers, if I may say so without offence, seem superior to your opportunities.
It's funny how every article that praises Harden has to have an asterisk. He scored 60...but it was against the Hawks. You may not like it....but hes the greatest scorer we've ever seen. He may shoot a lot of free throws...but hes averaging 38 points per game. It may be just iso hero ball.....but it works.
Don't fall for this. As Admiral Ackbar says, "It's a trap!" They're luring us in, following that shiny hook, and will nab us at the last second, with Amin Elhassan holding the fishing rod: "But Steph Curry will always be beloved of God!"
lol one handed dribble down the court. Granny ball. Those clowns would get destroyed if they played like that in today's NBA.
A great read indeed! When I got through reading this, I was tempted to declare that it’s official. ESPN has been taken over by aliens from Outer Space. The truth is that ESPN has finally discovered the truth. James Harden is on an historic roll, and I’m going to sit back and enjoy it. Nice find, OP.
The ESPN Hoop Collective podcast yesterday actually started off with a lot of love for Harden. Although Windhorst did his part throughout the whole thing to try to go negative. Bobby Marks and Royce Young were the guests and they both were very complimentary. I believe it was Marks who was bringing up the point that Harden is unfairly scrutinized. Brought up FT attempts in Kobe’s 81 point game and said why is Kobe’s game not dissected he shot a bunch of free throws? Or that recently Doncic had a great game with 20+ free throws and there was no one out there trying to tear that performance down.
Did you listen to Ben Taylor's recent podcast comparing Harden,Wade, and Kobe? Ben really went at Harden on that podcast sheesh. I was kinda pissed haha.
I did too, and while he made some reasonable points (as usual), he did appear to be purposely trying to downplay Harden’s numbers. I sometimes get accused of that here, but I have to admit listening to someone “on the outside” do that was a little irritating.
Haha, for what its worth...I think you catch heat because you are honestly one of the most(if not the most) objective users on CFs. I appreciate your posts. Lol even today you taught me about FTA% haha.
