I saw a ton of blame on Harden only on this board because of Rockets horrendous start, but James was shooting as horrible last year as he did it this season, but the Rockets were 9-2 opposing to 4-7 today.

The definition was in between the lines with defense, effort, discipline on the court among surrounding players. Dwight got injured exactly at the same date a year ago as our Celtics loss, and we also lost TJ due to injury two games into the season. But even after losing Dwight, we still won every game but three till the December 18.

The reason was clear: the team was disciplined, it showed heart and drive. And being disciplined and playing hard as a group is about coaching in those circumstances. It’s about player leadership when you are facing an opposition of your own caliber, where big names should deliver big time and role players should follow them, but it’s about coach leadership when you face sub-par teams with sub-par level talent.

That’s what happening on the court when you are REALLY losing the locker room, that's what Morey's decision really means, that's why McHale should be fired and he was.

Once any coach loses the locker room, he's done, his days are limited and the situation won't ever be the same. Because last year's team would be 4-7, OK, but they would lose by 3, by 6, but not by 20+ in those occasions.

Correct. In fact, I'll even set aside the stuff about effort and discipline. Let's just focus on a single thing: The defense was excellent early last season, and was actually a bigger factor in the hot start than James Harden. The defense even kept clicking when its anchor (Howard) went out.

Currently, the defense is bottom three in the league. Some blame to Harden there... maybe some blame to the fit with Lawson. But mostly just a big WTF about how you can be that bad at defense with Dwight Howard and Trevor Ariza on your squad.

its especially pathetic when your best player plays defense the way he does. You will never win a championship like that.

Harden's MVP running last year became a major distraction to his game. He drank his own Kool Aid and believed the hype.

The problem is that he believed it so much, he didn't hone his skill during the offseason and focused on his brand instead of his game.

    Classic case of over confidence.

    Wrong.

You need to watch the game.

Last year early season even when Harden was struggling with his shoot, he still tried hard on offense to create.

This year he just doesn't give a fork, his penetration was not there, his passing is weak and lazy, and even when the team was down in the play clock, he never ran out to help and just stand at the wing or corner to watch.

Defense is a big problem, but the Rockets offense in its current stage also sucks donkey ass.
