I think Westbrook gets a triple double average next year too

How you finish is extremely important regardless of award. At least it won't feel like a robbery

He should go for it, become the next Melo. What a legacy!

So either 1) those legends never conspired and orchestrated securing a triple double -OR- 2) Russ is already GOAT surpassing Bird, Magic, Kobe, and Jordan. Big 'O' would be 2nd GOAT just behind Russ.

Ima go with #1 because I'm pretty sure those legends where chasing championships and not triple double stats. But what do I know, I'm not a NBA journalist and I certainly don't have a NBA MVP Vote to waste.

I'm just curious are all these people who are saying westbrook is mvp not watching games? It is so clear in games that he is stat paddling. His teammates let him get uncontested rebounds. Half his assists if not more are from failed drives to the basket where he just hands it off in the paint. This is probably the worst and inefficient westbrook we've ever seen. I think people just hate harden.

Yeah, how u finish is very important. Westbrook was doing something memorable like every other game this past month while Harden has been playing average-below average for awhile. Harden hasn't had a signature moment since his game winner against Denver, and that was weeks ago. His last 50 point triple double was back in January while Westbrook has had 2 of them in the past 2 weeks.

It's going to be a blowout. You have a lot of people who actively dislike harden and will punish him on the ballot by putting him 3rd through 5th. I'm willing to bet there will be one ballot that doesn't even have him on it

Oh, so now Harden might finish 3rd (or worse)? Surprise, surprise...

    It's 3 points & 3 rebounds. Not as if he's averaging 20-5-5 & Westbrook is 30-13-13.

Yes, he brings it every night but teammates blatantly moving out the way or not going for a ball? Not impressed.

So let's just say they win the final 2 games...48-34

    *Not including lockout/shortened seasons
*Not including when they played less than 82 games

48-34: Worst since Moses Malone in '81-'82(46-36) (35 years)

    1974-75: Bob McAdoo(49-33)
    2016-17: Russell Westbrook(48-34)
    1978-79: Moses Malone(47-35)
    1981-82: Moses Malone(46-36)
    1975-76: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar(40-42)

48-34: 10th "best" record in the league: Worst since Michael Jordan in '87-'88(T-7th) (29 years)

    1978-79: Moses Malone(47-35 T-6th)
    1987-88: Michael Jordan(50-32 T-7th)
    1981-82: Moses Malone(46-36 T-7th)
    1975-76: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar(40-42 T-9th)

And 6th seed: worst since Moses Malone in '81-'82(6th seed) (35 years)

    1978-79: Moses Malone(47-35 T-6th) (4 seed)
    1981-82: Moses Malone(46-36 T-7th) (6 seed)
    1975-76: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar(40-42 T-9th) (6 seed)

So while Westbrook is "making history"(55 years), voters are also making their own "history".

Those players weren't stat chasing and were still pretty close if they actually tried to go gun for it.

    Magic: 18.6/9.6/9.5 with 20.1 USG%
    Bird: 24.3/9.5/7.5 with a broken back and 27.4 USG%
Michael Jordan 32.5/8/8 32.1 USG% That's with him only playing PG for the final 24 games in which he damn near had a triple double average and had 10 triple doubles in 11 games, missing 4 more by a single stat. Imagine if he played PG the whole season.

All of those seasons are with great efficiency too. None of them were stat padding. I find it amazing how fans are so quick to defend Russ when you say he is stat padding. They say that it's the style they're playing in order to create more fast break opportunities. So you make that excuse for all the videos and statistic proof that Russell doesn't defend his man so he can run off and grab a rebound, but the entire world trashed James Harden for video lowlights of his man slipping by him to the point that people still till this day believe that's how he plays all game every game. "hahaha James harden plays no defense!! How can he be MVP?? *insert laughing emojis*"

And what pisses me off most is that apparently a Clutchfans member created that infamous James Harden defensive nitpicked lowlights video and yet no one here has tried to do the same to Westbrook. At this point, no one would care. You wouldn't see it anywhere like how the Harden video was played on every basketball show and youtube channel.

It was obvious what the media wanted when they started pushing the crazy narrative that the Thunder are overachieving.

Between the presidential election, and the MVP race, I've completely lost respect for both the media and the average citizen/fan. Being ill-informed, agenda-driven, shortsighted, and just plain ignorant is not only accepted now..... it's par for the course. Stupidity is not only rewarded..... it's expected.

That video has to be 1 of Clutchfans' lowest moments. Clutchfans played such a huge role in Harden's perception.

I swear, for over 2 years you couldn't watch a single Harden highlight video without seeing multiple comments like "lol, where's Harden's defense highlights" or "omg, Harden got a block so this video must be fake"

He still hasn't recovered from that video.
