In a vacuum yea, of course, but it is not that easy?

In 2015, a full year before Durant's free agency, are you just gonna let Parsons and Beverley walk without knowing if Durant is a guarantee?

We could easily have 15 million in 2015 in cap money without having to lose Parsons/Bev....what if Aldridge says he is on board? Are you going to say no because you might have a shot at Durant a year later?

The real key to our success here is Parsons and Beverley. Their ridiculously low salaries and quality of play makes the the Rockets a great team with the added bonus of being able to add major pieces via free agency. Once their contracts end though, all that flexibility goes out the window.

Why did he "ding" the thing about Jordan playing a game?

Sounds good and all, but methinks his shirt is buttoned up a little high and tight.

    Ding.

Also I think the cap may go up that year some more?

Kevin Durant has no real reason to leave OKC.

He already has a top 5 running mate, Ibaka is a perfect compliment.

They need only add/trade for that third wheel, maybe not a Harden, but at worst a Kevin Martin.

    Nah, nothing to see here.

On 790 this morning they were talking about this. The radio host said Jalen Rose as an ESPN commentator reminds him of "that guy" from "Office Space", and they played this audio....had me laughing on my way to work:

STEVE (MONOTONOUSLY) HELLO SIR. MY NAME IS STEVE. I CAME FROM A ROUGH AREA. I USED TO BE ADDICTED TO CRACK BUT NOW I'M OFF AND TRYING TO STAY CLEAN. THAT IS WHY I AM SELLING MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTIONS.

LOL. I don't like Jalen as an official commentator, but I simply cannot get enough of him on these podcasts. He seems like the realest, coolest former player ever. My crush on him just won't fade, no matter how fat he's getting.

I stated my assumptions. You can debate their truthiness all you'd like, but my prediction was not complicated either. If Dwight opts in, KD gets 17.5 plus any increase of the cap over 62.1 million. 62.1 is the projected 2014-2015 cap number, not the current one (via Larry Coon). To say I didn't consider the cap changes shows you didn't read my post, I literally defined a variable for it.

As I said, KD could get over $22 million from the Thunder. So if Dwight gives up $1 million, that still only brings Durant to $18.5 million plus any cap overage.

Bottom line: there is only at most ($40.7 + cap overage) to split between the two, no matter what. That requires the two to take a combined ($4.9 million - cap overage) pay cut. I never said it wouldn't happen either. I said it wouldn't happen without premeditation and cooperation between multiple parties.

I was thinking this the other day too. The Okc was a sinking ship the moment they became the thunders.

People will be so focused on Durant/Westbrook, Morey will pull a Sergibaka.

    Harden > Wade
    Durant = Lebron
    Dwight >> Bosh

3 years is a long time. All OKC needs is to draft a legit compliment within that period. That's how they can afford to move that one step toward a championship. Easier said than done. If they can't find that player, frustration will set in. This is about the time Olajuwon started to get frustrated too. Jordan as well. But you saw what happened in both instances. Lebron went the new route. As did KG. Recent history dictates forming your own team. So you have that too. Should be interesting.

It's a longshot, but I think we've all learned to not doubt Daryl Morey

It could happen. Dwight would have to opt out of the final year of his contract and take a pay cut, though, and there's no way we'd be able to keep Parsons, Lin, Beverly, etc if they are still with us at that time.

Simmons loves the Rockets, just wait. He will spend 10 minutes talking about how Fat Elvis is the best GM in the NBA and how he called D12 to Houston.
