This is a good point -- Romo will be fresh with less mileage on the odometer -- the collarbone is concerning, but the rest of the injuries are fluky.
I feel like we should draft them AND get Romo. Neither of those drafted QBs are ready to start, and I don't think anyone here is saying get a FA QB INSTEAD of drafting.
Agreed, if that's possible, I'd love that. Just didn't think it'd be possible with how limited in cap space we are right now. Just thinking, signing Romo with upgrading our line would be pointless.
He also started his playing career late, being on the bench for several years before starting. So, overall, he has a LOT less mileage on his body than a typical QB his age.
come on, how realistically you expect romo to last? He's just a name brand, a shell of his old self. If you gonna get romo, you better make sure you get him on the cheap and have a very very capable and durable backup.
It means that after we spend another $30-$40 million we won't be able to spend anymore. Like I said, we aren't limited right now in the context of that quote.
Romo represents the most realistic possibility of SB contention for the Texans next season. No QB drafted this season would even play this season so while I don't necessarily think Romo will stay healthy it really is sort of down to getting him or having a cap on just how successful this upcoming season can be. On top of that, it's a pretty terrible QB class and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if none of the QB this year ever manage to be worth a damn. I'd still be fine with picking one up, but my expectations for them would be about where my expectations for Savage are.
Why Cutler and not Savage? Romo is a significantly better QB than Cutler. If we can't get Romo, I'd just assume roll into next year with Savage and a rookie. I see no benefit to bringing in Cutler.
Well I wasn't that excited to get Romo based on his injury history but now I want him since Jerry doesn't want us to have him.
