6 years, $36M, with the chance to earn a max of $40M including guarantees.

Love the dude, but Merciless has far more upside and lower costs. He deserved the money they could pay him, so I'm glad for him.

We're not surprised Barwin's market was so slow to develop because he lacks explosive edge-rush ability and that's a necessity for 3-4 outside 'backers. 26-year-old Barwin could be a utility defender in Philadelphia, but shouldn't be a realistic option to start over Trent Cole or Brandon Graham. Barwin finished last season with just three sacks across 18 starts, including playoffs.

3 sacks in 18 games? Glad he's gone.

so does that translate to only $4MM of dead money on top of $6MM a year? I guess thats not too outlandish. Eagles would eat ~$3.4MM in bonus if he flops after year one and gets the axe

WAAAAY too much money for his production this year. Good luck with the Philly Texans!

He's a guy that would have value to your team on a rookie deal or something, but he's just not good enough to warrant a FA contract. He won't produce enough.

Loved his attitude and work ethic, especially after he had his foot nearly ripped off a couple of years ago. Glad he got paid, but glad it's not the Texans that are paying it. That's a lot of money for what he brings to the table...and he's not even going to start in Philly? Wow.

Love Barwin, congrats on that awesome deal but I understand Cush and Watt will command too much money to handcuff their bank account with fringe guys. Philly just got an awesome human being.

I expect Conner will have a much better year than last year. Won't be surprised to see him get back to 10 sacks.

How productive a pass rusher was Connor Barwin last year? 40 QB disruptions on 533 pass rushes. 29th best score out of 32 3-4 OLBs

    Ugh

Roseman's explanation for Barwin's drop in sack numbers (11.5 in 2011, 3 in 2012) was that he lined up more on open side (w/o TE) in 2011.

Who cares if you guys think he's cool cause he's some hipster jock who wears deep V-necks and skinny jeans, listens to indie rock and rides a bike.

All I care is what he does on the field. The fact is he wasnt producing, 3 sacks is pathetic. Hardly any qb hurries, hits. We won't miss him.

Whitney Mercilus, in his limited spaps/time on the field was a much bigger factor than Barwin was the entire season.

Tbh, good bye...not missed. Bring on Whitney who will get more than 3 sacks playing with his eyes closed
