The Rockets had poor depth at PG before the trade too. They're taking what they know was already their weakest position, and they are adding a young, cheap player with a higher upside to replace the veteran. If Brooks (or Lowry) shines, then we'll all see it as a shrewd move. If it doesn't work out, well the position wasn't that great anyways so I don't think we lose much. The Rockets had to be smart here. If they traded for a Baron Davis, that means they're taking on a bad contract and a player who's injury prone and has had problems with almost every coach he's played for. Teams that take on those type of players are playing a very risky game -- ask the Clippers or the Knicks.
