Given that the Rockets hold Hartenstein's draft rights (meaning that he cannot sign with any other NBA teams), it is doubtful that he will earn a roster spot on this season's team. However, my guess is that he will get an NBA contract for next season. Actually, I would not be surprised if that was the "quid pro quo" for Hartenstein agreeing to sign a G-League contract this season rather than forcing the Rockets to make him a qualified tender and risk losing his draft rights if he didn't make the team.

Sounds like he was scouting Luis Scola there for a second. It's still 2018, right?

Yep, and Hartenstein has a more consistent 3ball, overall offense actually, than Qi.

Imagine if Hartenstein could develop Ryno range. Upside could be Lauri Markannen-esque.

Hartenstein will have the occasional dunk as a true 7footer, which is more than Scola could even dream about. But Scola's craftiness around rim and BBIQ were through the roof. Miss the ice cream man.

Any update on this kid? I haven't followed RGV this season.

I wonder if he will be traded if we get LBJ.

They have his rights, but they haven't signed him so he wouldn't really help the trade when it comes to making salaries match.

This kid gets a lot of easy looks around the rim , but doesn't dunk much considering the volume of shots around taken at point blank range.

I want to see him punch a few , not put them on the glass …. Really my only complaint about the guy , think he could develop into a solid rotation piece eventually.

No, but he may need to be included with Flyin' Ryan.

I just don't think anyone would care for him. He hasn't looked particularly good and he's not even under contract. Why not just throw in Sergio Llull instead? At least he actually looks good overseas. Hartenstein is easily a year or two away from belonging on an NBA court and honestly I don't think he'll ever be mobile enough or good enough at hitting the 3 to justify a spot in a rotation.

He's got slow feet, is not a good rebounder, not a terribly good 3 point shooter, and doesn't really have any moves inside the paint. Now sure, he could develop some kind of game one of these days, but as of now, he doesn't do anything well enough to warrant serious consideration.

I'm not sure he really exists, but some say he just helped his Spanish team win some Bush League championship.

Probably not but I’d be shocked if Black was back next season.
