Isaiah Canaan In a Documentary Called The Home Team

I attended the 2014 SXSW Film Festival and one of my favorite things to do is to see the Documentary Shorts. I sit through a few of them, then all of a sudden I see Isaiah on the big screen.

It ends up that it's a short about Murray State Racers basketball and the home that surrounds the team. The piece really makes me want to cheer for Murray State in the future. Great, lovable fans; heartwarming stories. It's shot during Canaan's senior year. You see the team, you see the fans, you see how much the town loves its team and the players that stop by for a few years. Real family atmosphere.

Isaiah joined the team at the same time a walk-on joined. The walk-on played all 4 years, but never score a basket. He came close, but never made it. All year the team plays well, but still no basket. Then Senior Day comes and they want to do something special for the walk-on. Canaan, who is also a senior, gives up his starting spot for the walk-on.

I can't remember if he gets a bucket, but Murray State loses on Senior Day.
...And Isaiah Canaan's name will be etched in the mind of every Murray State fan for many many years to come.
