The 76ers are currently having a former rockets all stars, Bob Covington, Canaan, ish, the turkey center not named asik, and... T-rob. That's the future of nba.
Canaan just needs to get comfortable and find his rhythm. I suspect he'll throw up a couple 30 point games before the end of the season and may even get a 40. And I suspect Philly will have to start benching him in close games so he doesn't shoot them to a win. Canaan is a very good offensive player. Once he gets comfortable and gets running he'll be a PITA to deal with.
He's not going to be on the floor long enough to score 20 let alone 30 or 40 if he continues to have a 1.08/1 AST2TOV ratio. Unfortunately it wasn't much better in Houston @ 1.16/1. He might end up being an above average 3P shooter, but the rest of his game sucks. As someone else mentioned he's a lot like Troy Daniels.
Derek Bodner @DerekBodnerNBA about 1 hour ago Robert Covington has a right elbow contusion, and will not return. Earlier, Isaiah Canaan was benched due to pick and roll confusion.
Benched in favor of Ish Smith. His shooting percentages have been woeful -- regret picking him up in fantasy.
I will put a good amount of money down he does not get a couple 30 point games, and I'll bet my house he doesn't get 40.
How many teams in your league? No good PGs left in mine, but I'll be dropping Canaan for Will Barton when the clock strikes 12.
gonna say it, but i think being on a bad team exposed his weaknesses. When he was on houston we were able to hide alot of them
We hid him on the bench because he belongs in the D-League. Can't defend and can't play PG. He can only shoot 3's. People went Canaan crazy because Ariza and Beverley were in such bad shooting slumps.
Canaan has tunnel vision, he puts his head down and drives and nothing is going to stop him from taking that shot, not an open teammate, not 3 shot blockers, nothing! And it's not much better when he dribbles around the 3 point line, shoot or die!
Results have been bad early but i still think his 3pt shot will come around and he'll be a good rotation player in the NBA.
