All he can do is exactly what they need.... Canaan was also a pretty competitive defender this season
he got the chance and played like rubbish, it's amazing how much this forum hates players when they play but miss them when they don't. remember against Detroit where he went 0-5 from three
That is simply not the case. He showed great promise as a starter when Beverly was out and our offense looked significantly better, and then he got hurt and McHale didn't put him in the rotation again. He played solid defense, well above expectations. Just ask Chris Paul. Yeah, after sitting on the bench for weeks and being thrown in, in the 4th quarter. I remember.
Yeah scoring is so overrated in the NBA. He'll blow up in Philly and they'll have to shorten his minutes and bench him in crunch time to keep from winning some games. Yeah he'll throw in a couple 30's and maybe even a 40. But once again when he does we can remind ourselves that scoring is overrated and we have Mr. 1 for 7. Assists? He'll probably average 6 to 7 assists up there.
I'm so happy for Canaan. He will shine in Philly! Sad to see him leave, but if he doesn't get off the bench I prefer seeing him somewhere else. Go Canaan!
They are top defenders. Look into it. Wow, this is great! You have predicted Canaan is going to get some 30 or 40 point games and average 6 or 7 assists (like James Harden). This is a great time to find out who is right about Canaan. Let's keep coming back and examining your prediction, so you can get your props when he "blows up in Philly."
Top DEFENDERS - awesome! The object is to SCORE the basketball - give me an average defender who can score over an elite one who can't. DD
Point guard seems to be the position most loaded with talent in the current NBA. Strange that the Rockets haven't found a consistently good one in 11 years. Makes you wonder if the amount of available point guards puts Morey in analysis paralysis. He never wants to hold on to a valuable guard because of paying them means not having 'flexibility' for the next one.
No one "gives you" average defenders who can score. The NBA requires transactions and contracts. Do you have a more realistic plan? Or are you just expressing your unhappiness again?
He can't even do that consistently. He's a block waiting to happen at or around the rim and he's a streaky 3 point shooter, also he plays no defense whatsoever, like he makes Terry look like a competent defender kind of no defense. He's a D league quality player, he'll fit in well on the Sixers. I highly doubt that we even remember who he is 5 years from now.
The likelihood of Canaan putting up gaudy numbers in Philly is high -- hell, Covington is doing it. Their usage rates will be sky-high and chances are good the offense will run through those two. Kind of hard (IMO) to draw a valid projection regarding the numbers they tally out there and what they might do here in limited minutes/modified roles. I wish the kid luck, though. I do think he is a good player.
Getting rid of Caanan will end up like getting rid of Lowery or Dragic. Stupid move we had our point guard, just to hardheaded or stupid to realize it. Huge mistake. We will be one and done and deserve it.
Team shoots the most 3 pointers in the history of the NBA...trades away its best 3 point shooter. Makes sense.
